What are the new 2024 Subaru Outback features and upgrades? Here's a list of six things you'll love about the new Outback and three you won't.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback a good vehicle for families? Kelley Blue Book recently announced the 2023 Outback is one of its five best family cars for 2023. But what about the newly-upgraded 2024 Subaru Outback?

The 2024 Outback model change gets new upgrades and features, and there's a lot to like about the midsize SUV. But, unfortunately, as with any new model, it's not perfect. There are also a few things you may not like so well. Check out the list here.

The things you'll love about the 2024 Subaru Outback

1. The manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for Outback's option packages remains the same as last year's. Subaru did not raise option package pricing for the 2024 model year.

2. The Base 2024 Outback now comes with dome and cargo area lights that have been upgraded to LED. This will make it easier to see when loading or unloading the vehicle at night.

3. Outback Onyx Edition gets new upgrades

The standard 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system is now paired with a Harman Kardon speaker system with a 576-watt equivalent amplifier. In addition, the Onyx Edition now comes standard with a Power Moonroof, Reverse Automatic Braking. A 360-degree heated steering wheel is also standard for the first time.

4. Onyx Edition XT

A 360-degree heated steering wheel is now standard on the Outback Onyx Edition XT. This feature was only offered on higher trim levels the previous year.

5. Outback Wilderness upgrades

For 2024, the Outback Wilderness now receives a more rugged look thanks to a new front fascia featuring a redesigned bumper and LED fog lights paired with a more prominent front grille.

6. A 360-degree heated steering wheel is also standard on the 2024 Outback Wilderness. Again, this is a significant new upgrade for those in colder climates

The things you won't like about the 2024 Subaru Outback

1. Outback’s Auto Stop/Start system

Subaru uses the auto-stop-start feature to save gas. But it's the most disliked feature. Outback's automatic stop/restart engine function "could be smoother," says KBB.

2. Subaru still doesn't offer an Outback hybrid trim level

The 2024 Outback still does not have a hybrid model. So when is the hybrid trim coming? Subaru says they will combine its four-cylinder 1.8-liter direct injection turbocharged Boxer engine and hybrid technology in the next-generation Outback and Forester models for improved environmental performance.

Subaru will introduce next-generation Hybrid electric vehicles using the 1.8-liter turbocharged engine and adopt Toyota's Hybrid System (THS). Customers in the U.S. will likely see a new next-generation 2025 Subaru Outback midsize SUV with new hybrid technology. Stay tuned.

3. The new Outback price increases

How much did the 2024 Outback increase in price? All Outback trim level's prices increased by $570 except for the Onyx Edition, which had a $2,680 jump. The Wilderness increased by $1,585, and the Onyx Edition XT price raised $835. Dealer fees increased by $70 per vehicle.

What is the price of the 2024 Subaru Outback?

For the 2024 model year, the Outback will be available in nine trim levels. The Base is priced at $30,190, Premium ($32,490), Onyx Edition ($37,400), Limited ($37,090), Touring ($41,640), Onyx Edition XT ($40,655), Wilderness ($41,255), Limited XT ($41,490), and Touring XT ($44,090). In addition, destination and delivery fees are included in the price above ($1,295).

There's a lot to love about the newly-upgraded 2024 Subaru Outback midsize SUV and a few things you won't like. New models will begin arriving at Subaru retailers this fall.
