Can you spot the vintage Fiat in this new 124 Spider video and guess its year?

The new 2017 Fiat Spider really flies. Watch carefully.

Fiat launched two new advertisements for the 2017 124 Spider today. In one, an older couple are helped by the 124 Spider’s invigorating driving experience. It is a refresh of the Fiat 500 Blue Pill theme. Fun, but maybe growing a bit stale. What caught our attention was this new video.

Called “Free Like A Bird,” this video couples great music, incredible video footage and a cameo by a vintage Fiat. We didn’t notice the hat tip to the Fiat Spider the first go-around, so watch closely.

Filmed by an eagle flying through the mountains of Palinuro, Italy, the video features a couple in the new 124 Spider enjoying a ride through the twisting switchbacks. The music by Wyclef Jean is a perfect accompaniment to the visual experience.

Fiat’s new 124 Spider is about to be released, and a price point that caught us completely by surprise. The new roadster will come with two turbocharged engine choices, and of course, a six-speed manual transmission is standard. Check out the video and be sure to catch the 124 Spider’s forerunner. If you can guess the car’s model year, tell us in the comments below.

I believe that is a 1972 Fiat 124 Spider. It does not have the 2 small extra rubber bumpers on the front, which the 1974 model did. I was the proud owner of 2 Fiat 124 Spiders. A 1974 Burgundy model with tan leather seats and a 1978 chocolate brown model with tan and brown leather seats. Loved them both except of course when they were enjoying their regular visits to the shop which were much more frequent than I would have liked.
