At Hyundai, unlike brands like Mercedes, its flagship car is truly the Genesis - one step below the Hyundai Equus. It's this model where the latest innovations debut that most car buyers will see. The 2015 Hyundai Genesis will be the best yet because of some amazing technology coming.

The 2015 Hyundai Genesis is going to debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit during media days Jan. 13 to 14. An earlier video showed how exciting the new Genesis is going to be when it comes to the driving experience. Now a new Korean language video from Hyundai demonstrates how technologically advanced the sedan is going to be.

The new 2015 Hyundai Genesis is going to have a standard head up display for the driver. From the video, it looks like it is going to have speed, navigation and cruise control combined. Expect it to be configurable in different ways based on how the Genesis is equipped.

Parking and Driving Technology
Advanced Smart Parking Assist, which is a somewhat clunky name, is not just the standard parallel parking system found on Ford and Lexus cars. It's also going to help you perpendicular park, which is how most of park in the real world. The video shows the Hyundai Genesis effortlessly parking between two vehicles. It's especially helpful technology, in my opinion, when trying to get into a tight space in a dark parking garage.

The 2015 Genesis is also going to have a smart trunk. This is offered on other cars but that doesn't diminish its appeal. Approach your trunk with your hands full of packages and the trunk will open for you automatically. The video doesn't make it clear if you swipe your foot. From what I could see it looks like you simply walk up against the trunk (maybe you touch it?), step back and it springs open.

Blind spot detection is also going to be offered on the 2015 Hyundai Genesis. Consider this one of the few trickle downs from the Hyundai Equus. It's surprising that the Genesis didn't offer this before but it could be a nod towards the older, more affluent buyers who are attracted to the Genesis sedan.

Another feature being handed down from the 2014 Hyundai Equus is around view monitoring. The multi-camera system lets you see what is happening on all sides of the car. It's immensely helpful in a wide variety of situations. Once, while driving a much larger Lexus SUV, it helped me navigate down a one-way street in Philadelphia around a double-parked car. The system let me know I had inches to spare when I thought I didn't.

The video opens with some of the technology being demonstrated on the open road (or at least the Hyundai proving grounds in Korea). You're going to see the application of the blind spot detection system and the head up display while watching the beautiful 2015 Hyundai Genesis be driven.

That's the real beauty of these videos being released by Hyundai for the 2015 Genesis. They're creating a real strong desire for this all-new sedan. As I said above, to me the Genesis is the true flagship sedan in the Hyundai lineup because it has the most impact on sales and what will eventually be seen in the Sonata, Elantra and eventually Accent. Once you see the technology in the Genesis you know it's going to be more mainstream and soon.

2015 Genesis Performance
Here are some other details about the 2015 Hyundai Genesis, courtesy of a review of the Korean Domestic Market model, posted at Automobile magazine. The Genesis grows 0.2 inch in length, but the wheelbase is 3 inches longer, making for different proportions and much more room in the rear seat. Plus, there are head cutouts in back to compensate for the steep roofline. At 196.5 inches long, the 2015 Genesis is bigger than the BMW 5-series and Mercedes-Benz E-class.

There will be a choice of two engines: the 3.8-liter DOHC V-6 or the 5.0-liter DOHC V-8. The former produces 333 horsepower @ 6400 rpm and 291 lb-ft of torque @ 5100. The V8, according to estimates, will have 429 hp @ 6400 rpm and 376 lb-ft @ 5000 rpm.

All the signs point to this being an exciting new sedan when it debuts. Torque News will cover its unveil at the Detroit Auto Show and bring you the complete details, but odds are good we'll have all the info for you before then.
