During last night’s presentation of the 2013 Grammy Awards on CBS, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray made its official television debut as a part of a 90 second Chevrolet commercial that highlights a few of the new Chevy vehicles in fantastic fashion – including a skateboarding Sonic and the new C7 Stingray that seems to be doing battle with a futuristic fighter plane.

While the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has been plastered across the various media venues since being introduced on January 13th, General Motors really hasn’t done much to push the new C7 Stingray. There have been a couple company videos issued through social media highlighting different aspects of the new Chevy sports car but the new Chevrolet television ad that debuted last night during the Grammys was the first official appearance of the new Corvette on the small screen. Mind you, the Corvette really isnt the kind of car that “needs” television commercials as it isn’t like prospective need to be reminded that the Corvette exists so unlike higher volume models like the Malibu, the Sonic or the electric Chevy Volt, the Corvette is used as an exclamation point on commercials rather than as the main attraction. That is very much the case in this new 90 second commercial as the new Vette is shown racing through some unnamed city as it tries to avoid a high tech aircraft that looks much like a miniature stealth bomber. Most Corvette buyers really don’t need it to outrun a fighter plane but there is no question that seeing the new Stingray in action serves an awesome exclamation point on this TV spot.

The new Chevrolet ad not only introduces the 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe to the airwaves but it also ushers in the new brand tagline of “Find New Roads”. Rather than focusing on just one or two related vehicles, this 90 second spot looks as a variety of what are unquestionably Chevrolet’s most exciting new vehicles in very “nichey” scenes. This includes the Chevy Volt out enjoying nature (without damaging it, of course), the Chevy Spark in five different colors being driven by a quintet of fashionistas, the Chevy Sonic performing some outrageously unrealistic yet no less awesome skateboarding stunts, the 2014 Impala (which looks great, by the way) in a very suave, wealthy setting and the 2014 Corvette outrunning some odd fighter plane. The video also features a robotic dog and some very, very friendly white tail deer that are willing to walk right up to the Chevy Volt – which clearly shows that it is so friendly to the environment that even Mother Nature’s spookiest animals aren’t afraid of it.

For those who just want to see the 2014 Chevy Corvette getting busy in the capable hands of a trained professional driver begins right around the 52 second mark – although the commercial is worth a watch to see the new Chevy models. The new Sonic and Spark are a fine display of the fact that GM has finally given its compact models some attitude while the new Chevy Impala looks like a large sedan that will be far more popular in the current market. Like the previous GM compact models, the Impala has been a bit on the bland side but the new design is light years more exciting than the car that it replaces.
