Like much of the current range of Nissan products, the Titan truck needed renewal. The outgoing version of Nissan Titan dated from 2016 and it was the time for Nissan to refresh this half-tone truck. For 2020, therefore, the new Titan presents itself with changes and even if they are discreet, they are welcome.

Since Torque News has already reviewed the 2020 Nissan Titan Platinum Reserve, this review will focus on the 2020 PRO-4X trim and its off-roading strength.

In fact, speaking of off-roading, here is how the 2020 Titan PRO-4X was performing on a special off-roading place, just outside of Dallas, TX in March of 2020.

In Nissan's lineup the PRO-4X is extreme by every measure. When driving it helps you keep your ground, has a tough exterior and solid off-road stability.

Regarding the ground clearance, it is conquered thanks to all-terrain tires. The exterior of the 2020 PRO-4X Titan is tough because the steel skid plates help shield the truck from the toughest terrain. This is very beneficial, especially since this truck is meant to be driven in off-road conditions. Add to this mix the PRO-4X's Bilstein shocks that helps to achieve off-road stability and you have an excellent truck extreme by every measure.

PRO-4X Pricing

The 2020 Nissan Titan is priced with $36,190 starting MSROP. PRO-4X starts at $36,190 MSRP. However, the the Crew Cab (4x4) PRO-4X starts at $49,790 MSPR. The full package, which I was testing with 5.6-LIter Endurance V8 costs $60,180, which also includes the Destination Charges.

Mechanical and Performance Specs of 2020 PRO-4X

The truck comes with a 5.6-Liter Endurance V8 Engine. The 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of Torque will give you great power to move things around. It also come with a 9-speed automatic Transmission and Off-Road Bilstein Monotube Shocks to stabilize your driving. The safety of the 2020 Titan is secured by Automatic Emergency Breakinn, with Pedestrian Detection and Rear Automatic Breaking.

More About The Exterior

The 2020 Titan still looks as imposing as its previous generation. In this regard, it does not have to be ashamed against rivals such as the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500. For this 2020 version, note that the exterior design is retouched with new daytime running lights composed of four bars at right angles with LED lighting. These are standard on the PRO-4X - our test model - and Platinum Reserve versions. These new headlights are 120% more efficient in low beam mode than previous versions.

In addition to having to choose between Nissan Titan's trim levels, the buyers can now select their grille right out of the factory. Each variant is offered with a new special front bumper, fitted with a new grille. That of the Platinum Reserve version is somewhat discreet, with a chrome grille with a satin finish, while that of the Titan PRO-4X is more striking, with a black grille around the Nissan badge inscribed in red letters. The PRO-4X tow hooks feature the same color.

Speaking of trim levels the updated 2020 Nissan Titan comes in just extended and crew cab configurations, but the regular cab model is dropped for 2020. Five trim levels are offered: S, SV, PRO-4X, SL and Platinum Reserve. King Cab models come with a 6.5-foot bed while crew cabs get a 5.5-foot bed. Four-wheel drive adds about $3,000 to the price tag.

At the rear, new LED lighting has been added to the truck body; these four light sources are very useful if you need to charge or discharge in the dark.

Among the new features, we should also note that four new colors have been added this year. In addition to the colors already available, we have added intense black, alert red, Baja storm (only available with the Pro-4X version) and cardinal red metallic on the Platinum Reserve version.

At the rear, the new Titan is almost identical to the old version. There are new LED lights and a Titan logo on the tailgate.

The Interior of the 2020 Nissan Titan

The first thing that stands out in the interior of the 2020 Nissan Titan is the multimedia system screen, which is very well integrated in the center console. It measures eight or nine inches depending on the version. It is easy to use and there are quick keys to control the radio, navigation, as well as activate the 360-degree camera to assist you during a maneuver when you are unsure of what is there around you. Note also that the camera image and the display rendering on the screen are of good qualities.

The other aspect that is immediately noticeable in the interior of the PRO-4X is the huge sunroof which occupies the entire pavilion of the double cabin and which floods the interior with light. The zero gravity seats are very comfortable, both front and rear, and make journeys even more comfortable. The driver's seat has eight power adjustments with lumbar support (power adjustments, too) while the passenger seat has only four adjustments. Heated front seats are available with all versions. Our Pro-4X model also took advantage of heated rear seats, ventilated at the front. Real luxury.

Finally, the storage spaces are numerous and of all sizes. At the rear, you can lift the seat and rearrange the space to put objects in it and thus use the full width of the vehicle.

On the road the 2020 Titan PRO-4X does very well. The truck is easily taken in hand and despite its size, the 400 horsepower engine does not hurt at all, neither in traffic nor at cruising speed on the highway. It perfectly responds to acceleration. Regarding the towing the Nissan pickup can tow a load of 4,250 kg (9,370 lb) and carry a payload of 762 kg (1,680 lb) and the 2020 Titan comes with a new anti-swaying device for the trailer.

The 2020 Nissan Titan PRO-4X is a modernized and solid truck. With its electronically locked rear differential, slope control, Bilstein shocks, skid plate, red tow hooks and all-terrain tires, you can easily take it off the beaten track. On the consumption side, you can 15 city and 21 highway with an average of 17 miles per gallon.
