The Wait for the 2021 Ram TRX is Almost Over - Production is Underway

The wait for the most powerful mass-produced production truck is almost over. The very first 2021 Ram 1500 TRX rolled off the line, today, in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The Launch Edition model with VIN # 001 will be auctioned for charity.

2021 Ram TRX is North American Truck of the Year Finalist

Production on the long-awaited 702-horsepower truck started the same day that the TRX was announced as a finalist for North American Truck of the Year. Truck fans have been waiting for this huge horsepower truck since the TRX was shown as a concept in 2016. Ram promised that the 2021 Ram TRX would be the fastest and most powerful mass-produced truck on the market. The 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 delivers 702-horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. The TRX’s frame uses high-strength steel to improve durability and stability both on and off-road. The HEMI V-8 is mated to an eight-speed TorqueFlite transmission. The TRX sits 2” higher than other Ram trucks.

The 2021 Ram TRX that rolled off the line at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (known as SHAP) is Anvil colored and loaded with optional equipment like a Mopar RamBar, rock rails, bed-mounted tire carrier, Trailer Tow Group and Trailer Reverse Steering Control.

Koval added that the company realizes that the truck will be valuable, especially to die-hard fans.

MotorTrend 2021 Truck of the Year

The new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX was recently named the winner of the prestigious MotorTrend Truck of the Year competition, marking the third consecutive year the Ram brand captured the coveted award. Ram 1500 won in 2019, and Ram Heavy Duty took top honors for 2020.

When the award was announced, Torque News Managing Editor Patrick Rall wrote “The Ram 1500 TRX is the greatest off-road performance truck ever and this morning, it was named the best truck of 2021 by Motor Trend. To claim the 2021 Motor Trend Truck of the Year, the TRX beat seven other popular pickups to claim the title, but to anyone who has been fortunate enough to drive the Hellcat-powered Ram, this comes as no surprise. The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX was designed to devour virtually every other truck on the road. The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI® V-8 engine. The TRX is the fastest and most powerful mass-produced half-ton pickup truck in the world, with 702 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. It is officially rated at 0-60 miles per hour (mph) in 4.5 seconds, the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph and a top speed of 118 mph.

The 2021 1500 TRX Launch Edition is limited to 702 units, which sold out in less than three hours. The Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition has exclusive Anvil Gray paint and special trim and badging.
