2023 Chevrolet Colorado Seems Unbeatable as it Racks Up Another Award

The redesigned Chevrolet Colorado has already won MotorTrend truck of the year and various other awards. This latest award highlights its broad appeal and great performance.

The redesigned 2023 Chevrolet Colorado mid-size pickup seems unbeatable this year as it is driving off with yet another award. This time, the Hispanic Motor Press (HMPA) has awarded the Chevrolet Colorado as Best Truck of the Year.

“As Latinos, we look for the most value in every one of our purchases,” said Ricardo Rodriguez-Long, president of Hispanic Motor Press. “We have immense buying power and are discerning customers when it comes to selecting vehicles for ourselves, our families and our lifestyles. HMP recognizes the brands that continuously meet the needs of our community and deliver quality, reliable products.”

The award was presented at AutoMobility LA by HMPA president Ricardo Rodriguez-Long and a representative panel of distinguished judges during their 14th annual HMPA program.

Chevrolet Colorado Chosen as the 2024 MotorTrend Truck of the Year

As I reported earlier this month, the Chevrolet Colorado was chosen as the MotorTrend Truck of the Year. The Colorado is no longer viewed as simply the Chevrolet Silverado's little brother, it has grown into a great truck for work, recreation and off-roading. Here’s how the editor of MotorTrend described the Colorado’s performance.

“The Colorado lineup’s performance on- and off-road, particularly the ZR2's prowess, is nothing short of exceptional, rivaling even some of the most revered off-road vehicles available,” said Ed Loh, MotorTrend Group head of editorial. “Earning MotorTrend’s Truck of the Year award is a testament to the Colorado’s all-encompassing excellence across various terrains and utility needs.”

The Chevrolet Colorado is Also in Contention for Another Huge Honor

As I reported on December 25, 2023, the Chevrolet Colorado is also battling to be the 2024 North American Truck of the Year. The winner will be announced January 4th by the Automotive Press Association in Detroit.

Chevrolet redesigned the Colorado for the new model year adding a new Trail Boss package but also keeping the powerful Z71, ZR2 models as well as the LT and Work trims. The result is a full lineup for whatever the driver needs. MotorTrend credited the Colorado’s modern interior, versatile bed and strong feature content, on top of incredible off-road capability across the lineup, as part of its winning package.

I also reported this week that the Colorado was chosen as Adventure Truck of the year by GearJunkie.com.

The Hispanic Motor Press Association

The 2024 jury panel is comprised of independent Hispanic automotive media, content creators and industry influencers who evaluate vehicles based on criteria including overall design, comfort, safety, economy, handling, performance, functionality, infotainment integration, interior design, environmental requirements, driver satisfaction and price.

Chevrolet said it is proud to be distinguished in this category, especially given the popularity of pickup trucks among Hispanic consumers. The 2023 Colorado lineup includes Work Truck (WT), LT, Z71, ZR2 and first-ever Trail Boss models. The lineup offers a diverse range of choices tailored to the different ways customers use their trucks for work and recreational activities, including off-roading.
