Diesel the Word For 2017 Jaguar XF

The last thing an automaker would consider doing in the U.S. market is introducing a new diesel engine in light of the Volkswagen diesel mess. But Jaguar is doing just that.

The British automaker announced this week the 2017 XF would be getting the new Ingenium 2.0L turbodiesel inline-four. Power is rated at 180 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque. This comes paired with an eight-speed automatic and the choice of either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

EPA fuel economy figures for the XF diesel are,

  • XF 2.0D RWD: 31 City/42 Highway/35 Combined
  • XF 2.0D AWD: 30 City/40 Highway/34 Combined

As for pricing, the 2017 XF 2.0D kicks off at $48,445. The all-wheel drive model is slightly more expensive at $51,445. Prices include a $995 destination charge.

Any other changes I should know about the 2017 XF?

The only other change of note is the introduction of a new base model for the gas engine. The XF 35t loses some standard equipment from the Premium model such as memory settings for the driver's seat and 40/20/40-split-folding rear seats. Prices begin at $51,485 for the RWD model and $54,485 for the AWD model.
