The Latest Version of Tesla’s (Supervised) Self-Driving Will Astonish Your Mind: Robotaxis Will Start In China

Elon Musk shares a statement about the latest version of Tesla's supervised full self-driving and that it will astonish your mind. Let's dive into what this means.

Elon Musk Shares Latest Version Of FSD Will Blow Your Mind

Tesla's FSD is far more important to Tesla than sales of its vehicles. There is one simple reason for this. The sale of a Tesla vehicle will get Tesla the revenue for the sale of that vehicle one-time.

However, with FSD, you get a month subscription, along with the eventual robotaxi revenue that occurs constantly over time. In fact, for a RWD Model 3, it's quite likely that it could generate revenue equal to the purchase price just in the first year.

This is why Elon Musk calls an autonomous vehicle the biggest asset price increase in history. A Model 3 RWD, even a used one, will likely greatly increase in price, once it's seen that you can add it to the Tesla robotaxi network and make money with it.

Tesla also appears to be launching its robotaxi network in China first - at least on a trial basis to see how it performs.

Elon Musk must be really confident in the capabilities of FSD to be releasing the robotaxi vehicle on 8/8, a date important to China. 8 is a lucky number in China, and 2024 is the year of the dragon in China as well.

Tesla actually sells more cars in China than the U.S. and therefore, it's quite likely that Tesla has more data in China it can use for training FSD there than even in the U.S.

Tesla need only turn on FSD in China and to start getting a monthly subscription going. If the cars drive autonomously and without intervention, it's going to be a short time before driverless Tesla's start showing up.

China and the U.S. are two very big car markets and if the U.S. wants to remain competitive, they are going to have to keep up with China in the adoption of FSD and driverless Tesla's.

Version 12.4 and 12.5

The next versions that are coming for Tesla FSD that might make them driverless are 12.4 and 12.5. My guess is that once Tesla goes from 12.3.6 to 12.3.7 to 12.3.8 to 12.3.9, we will then have 12.4.

There will be incremental releases from 12.4 to 12.5 - about 9 releases. To get to 12.5, it's about 13 releases. If you look at the rapid rate of releases by Tesla, which is about 10 days right now, it's only 130 days from now.

That is September 14, 2024, still with plenty of time left in the year. Therefore, I will make a prediction that Tesla will have version 12.5 released by that date - or the very least - in case going to a major version like 12.4 or 12.5 takes longer than 10 days - before the end of the year.

I think Tesla will have driverless vehicles in China and, if the U.S. wants to keep up, there as well, before the end of the year.

Driverless Tesla's won't likely release everywhere all at once. They will, however, release in select locations first, like San Francisco, but it won't take long for other places to start allowing them.

Once the first driverless Tesla's are seen doing drive after drive without incident, it's going to be like the floodgates opening and driverless Tesla's appearing everywhere.

I think there's a good chance this will start before the end of this year.
