Tesla’s VP of Investor Relations Defends MKBHD’s Cybertruck Review Against “He Should Stay in His Lane” Comments & Production Quality Concerns

Tesla’s VP of Investor Relations has come to MKBHD’s defense against “he should stay in his lane” comments and production quality criticisms. MKBHD’s Cybertruck review was especially criticized in light of Hagerty’s & Top Gear’s stellar reviews.

A lot of people doubted if this day would ever come but, Tesla has finally handed over the first 10 Cybertrucks to paying customers. Not only that, unlike other Tesla delivery events, the EV maker delivered the Cybertrucks to non-employees.

Currently, Tesla is in the process of handing over the first 1000 “Foundation Series” Cybertrucks to customers. These vehicles have a special 3-headed Cyberbeast insignia, Foundation Series written in blocky futuristic fonts, and contain Elon Musk's warning for the apocalypse.

Even a day after the delivery event, Cybertruck details are still coming in a drip-drip fashion. The additional Cybertruck details are coming from Tesla and YouTubers who received early access to review the vehicle.

From Tesla’s part, we learned that the Cybertruck will have a range extender that can increase the truck’s range from 340 miles to 470 miles. Elon Musk has given us more details about the range extender.

Through the company’s online shop, Tesla has also launched two new Cybertruck colors – satin black and satin white – which cost an extra $6,500.

Some really good Cybertruck insights are also coming from the YouTube space. Yesterday, in an interview with Top Gear, which was released on YouTube, Tesla’s head of vehicle engineering Lars Moravy confirmed the Cybertruck is capable of charging at 350KW using V4 superchargers.

Lars also added that at 350KW, the Cybertruck will be able to charge from 15% to 85% in about 18 minutes.

In the second Cybertruck YouTube review, Hagerty pitted the Cybertruck in “Beast Mode” against the Rivian R1T and Hammer EV. In the first-ever third-party drag race, the Cybertruck was able to break the pickup truck speed record.

Finally, the third YouTuber to get early access to the Cybertruck was MKBHD, similar to the other two YouTube channels, yesterday, MKBHD released his Cybertruck review.

MKBHD’s video was one of his longest reviews at 40 minutes and went into detail about the Cybertruck’s several “quirks and features”.

Currently, there is an argument between fans about which Cybertruck video was the best. I along with the majority of online commentators have found Hagerty’s video to be the most entertaining and highest production value.

Most people ranked Hagerty’s video first, Top Gear’s second, and MKBHD’s last. However, there is one prominent Tesla executive who doesn’t agree with this ranking.

Martin Viecha, Tesla’s Vice President of Investor Relations took to X to give support to MKBHD’s Cybertruck review. Viecha wrote “Auto Focus by MKBHD is slowly becoming my favorite car channel. He's got a different angle, more tech-focused, balanced, less emotional. I remember when people were telling him to "stay in his lane". Nah, mate, you can do cars for sure.”

This being Twitter (X), somebody replied to Martin’s post saying “Hagerty was a much better video though.”

Surprisingly, Tesla’s head of Investor Relations addressed this comment and replied saying “Hagerty's production values are insane. But I prefer a different angle. I mean Doug DeMuro has no production values at all and he's got some of the best car videos ever created.”

MKBHD, seeing this back and forth on X responded by simply fist-bumping Viecha showing an appreciation for his support.

Overall, all three Cybertruck videos are a must-watch and we’ll be sure to keep you posted as more outlets get Cybertruck access. Until then, make sure to visit our site torquenews.com/Tesla regularly for the latest updates.

So what do you think? Have you watched all three MKBHD, Hagerty, and Top Gear Cybertruck videos? If so which one was your favorite? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
