How BMW dominates KBB's most fuel efficient luxury car brands list

BMW isn’t just about performance on the track, the German automaker is also about efficiency performance. Why does KBB give the nod to 3 BMWs?

Kelly Blue Book (KBB) says there are three BMW vehicles that deserve to be on the 10 Most Fuel-Efficient Luxury Cars list for 2015. They tout the 2015 BMW 328d, 2015 BMW i8 and BMW i3 as being worthy of the top honors this year. It used to be the luxury brands were nowhere to be seen when it came to efficiency at the pump. But that has changed with luxury automakers like Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Cadillac, Lincoln and Audi getting into the game.

KBB’s 10 Most Fuel-Efficient Luxury Cars

KBB’s list of 10 Most Fuel-Efficient Luxury Car for 2015 : The specific models featured include the 2016 Audi A3 TDI, 2015 BMW 328d, 2015 Lexus ES 300h, 2016 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, 2015 Lexus CT 200h, 2015 BMW i8, 2014 Cadillac ELR, 2015 Mercedes-Benz B-Class, 2015 Tesla Model S, 2015 BMW i3.

BMW has three vehicles that make the list followed by Lexus who has two that made the top 10 list this year. Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Lincoln, Cadillac and Tesla all had one vehicle on the list for 2015. There’s a mix of diesel, hybrids and electric vehicles this year and also the high-performance i8 from BMW.

Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com editors say they detailed the top fuel-efficient luxury vehicles on the market, based on the EPA's city/highway combined fuel economy ratings. Each 2015 luxury vehicle on the list has a minimum combined fuel economy rating of 36 mpg, which is up 5 mpg from the previous year's list.

Efficiency doesn’t have to be boring

Fuel efficient vehicles used to be boring and low on the fun-to-drive meter but that has changed with the luxury brands now producing vehicles that are not only fuel efficient but they are also sporty and even offer superior performance.

BMW dominated KBB’s 10 Most Fuel-Efficient Luxury Cars list for 2015 with the 2015 BMW 328d, 2015 BMW i8 and BMW i3. Fuel efficiency isn’t limited to a handful of boring models anymore. For more information on the KBB list go here.
