2020 Dodge Charger: 3 Popular Exterior Colors are Gone, 3 New Colors Arrive

The 2020 Dodge Charger isn’t available in Destroyer Grey, Sublime or Plum Crazy, but buyers will be able to get their sporty sedan in Frostbite, Hellraisin and Sinamon Stick – along with 10 returning colors from 2019.

Two weeks ago, we brought you a look at the color palate for the 2020 Dodge Challenger and since then, we have gotten a great many questions about the exterior color options for the 2020 Dodge Charger. The interior and exterior palates for the two Dodge performance cars are similar, but as we continue our in-depth coverage of the new Charger, here is a rundown of the interior and exterior colors offered for 2020.

2020 Dodge Charger Exterior Colors
The 2020 Dodge Charger will be offered in 13 exterior colors when the order banks for the new model year open, which is down from the 14 exterior colors offered in 2019, but there is still a possibility that Dodge could announce more exterior colors as we get into the 2020 model year. In addition to offering one less exterior color for 2020, there are also three new colors for the new model year, which means that four colors from 2019 are gone.

Those colors which have been removed from the 2019 Charger lineup include Maximum Steel, Destroyer Grey, Sublime and Plum Crazy. It comes as little surprise that Maximum Steel has been removed, as it was not popular with buyers, serving as one of the four greyscale options last year, but Destroyer Grey was popular on both the Charger and the Challenger, so it is surprising that Dodge has removed that from the option sheet. Of course, Sublime and Plum Crazy are always popular with enthusiasts, but those two colors have always been offered on and off in alternating years.

The new colors for the 2020 Dodge Charger are Frostbite, Hellraisin and Sinamon Stick. Frostbite is the bright metallic blue shown on the Hellcat Widebody above, Hellraisin is the production version of the concept color Black Eye (shown below on the Challenger 1320) and Sinamon Stick is a dark reddish-orange, so while the 2020 Charger loses two greys, a green and a purple, it picks up a blue, a different purple and a reddish hue.

Finally, the 2020 Dodge Charger is available in 10 returning colors from 2019, including Pitch Black, Octane Red, TorRed, Go Mango, Granite Crystal, F8 Green, Triple Nickel, Indigo Blue, White Knuckle and B5 Blue – which is only available on the limited edition Hellcat Daytona 50th Anniversary models (shown below).

Again, we should point out that in the past, Dodge has rolled out colors during the model year, so there is still a chance that we could see more exterior colors offered for the 2020 Charger and Challenger.

2020 Charger Interior Holds Steady
The 2020 Dodge Charger is offered with 6 different interior color configurations which include cloth, suede-and-leather and all-leather surfaces. All 6 color packages are technically carried over from 2019, but the Caramel suede package is available is now available on the GT Plus, R/T and Scat Pack models after only being available on the SXT in 2019.

The 6 interior colors for the 2020 Charger include all black, Caramel/Black, Demonic Red/Black, Houndstooth/Black, Ruby Red/Black and Sepia/Black. Again, Caramel is a medium brown in suede while Sepia is an all-leather medium brown, and Caramel is available on all of the naturally aspirated models while Sepia is only available on the Hellcat models. Also, based on the information on the 2020 Charger, the Ruby Red is only available on the Scat Pack while the Demonic Red is only available on the Hellcat.

Unfortunately, we still don’t know for sure when the order banks for the 2020 Dodge Charger will open, but the press release for the new Widebody models said that they would go on sale in the fall of 2019, with the first units arriving in early 2020. As we get into fall, the order banks should be opening soon and while the widebody models may not arrived until early 2020, the rest of the 2020 Charger models should be available at your local dealership before the end of the 2019 calendar year.
