Fix Your Toyota Prius MFD For Less Than $60

If your Toyota Prius MFD is struggling to work right you may need this cheap and easy repair.

If you have not yet subscribed to The Hybrid Guy YouTube Channel, it will undoubtedly benefit you. In this article, we will look at a failed MFD (Multi-function Display) and how to repair it for less than $60.

What Does A Failed MFD Do?
A failed multi-function display can fail in many ways. The most common failure is the capacitive, resistive touch part of the screen.

The screen utilizes your finger to make a conductive touch relaying the signal over to the computer. This signal then does what was shown on the screen. You need a working MFD to ensure your fan speed is where you want it and to do a plethora of other things.

A failed MFD will not respond to touch or respond very little. If that is the case, you should replace it to get it functioning correctly again.

How Do You Repair an MFD Touch Screen?
The repair is relatively straightforward. I repaired mine in less than an hour, even shooting the video content (release of the video to come soon).

The hardest part is taking out the darn air vents, honestly, but if you can get them out with no breakage, you can do this repair. There are a series of screws and cables you will need to remove to get to the base of the screen.

Once you take all of the stuff off, use a razor knife and gently remove the old touch screen. Clean the mounting surface and prepare it for the new screen.

After you have it laid down, put the assembly back together and put it in your car. If all went right, you now have a working touch screen.

Conclusion
This is a straightforward repair for those who want to avoid having the dealer repair the unit. $60 and some of your time will land you with a fully functioning MFD.
