We know a few details on the upcoming Audi RS3 sedan such as it is coming to the U.S. Now we have some possible confirmation on a few other details.

To bring you up to speed, back in February, a video popped up that showed Audi executives introducing the RS3 sedan to their employees. We learned at the time it would use a new iteration of the turbocharged five-cylinder producing up to 400 horsepower. A few days later, a dutch website posted a purported Audi roadmap showing the RS3 sedan would launch in 2017.

Now, we can possibly confirm some of these details. Car and Driver spoke with a source at Audi who was able to corroborate some of the information that has been floating out there. First, the RS3 sedan will use a turbocharged 2.5L five-cylinder. But it will not be the same found in the current RS3 Sportback. Instead, it will be a brand engine with close to 400 horsepower. This engine will debut in the new TT RS, which is expected to show up at the Beijing auto show later this month.

This new engine will be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. Top speed will either be governed to 155 or 174 mph, depending on options and market.

It is expected the U.S. will see the RS3 sedan in 2017 as a 2018 model.
