Why the 2022 Toyota Tundra’s bed Extender is an Absolute Must

Thinking of adding a few accessories to your recent purchase of a 2022 Toyota Tundra? Look no further than a simple bed extension and here's why.

The 2022 Toyota Tundra has surpassed many edgy eyes of various things breaking down. At first, I too was skeptical and bashed the Toyota for the few that had problems. However, after seeing a semi-truck hauling like 10 Toyota Tundras on the back, it gave me a sense of pride in these trucks for some reason. Even though I don't see myself owning this mammoth of a truck within the next few years, after seeing the majestic looks of the geometric edges and the American yet Japanese design, I concluded that so far, after everything that I have read, everything that I have seen, I like the 2022 Tundra.

However, even though I really want a Tundra and would give up an arm and leg to have one, I still sometimes think to myself, “what would I add first?” For instance, almost everyone who gets a new RAV4 Hybrid automatically blacks out the chrome for some reason. I love chrome but, in all honesty, you don’t need that much. It’s the same for the new Tundras. Almost every customer adds something or blacks out something to make their truck cooler. Then it dawned upon me, that the first thing everyone should do is add a bed extension.

Now it may look a little ugly and sometimes it may get in the way but believe me when I say that a bed extension is probably the most useful add-on you can buy for your Tundra. Mind you I didn’t say coolest. For those who don’t know, a bed extension is basically a metal gate that is shaped so that you can have a sort of dam on your tailgate. This essentially makes the tailgate part of your bed without risking anything falling out. It’s pure genius if you think about it.

The short-bed 2022 Toyota Tundra is about 5.5’’. This doesn’t give a lot of room for things like 6-feet long 2x4’s and maybe even a kayak. If you have a bed cover for your truck, you can even use the extension to your advantage and store it underneath your cover. Most of them would fit if they are built to the specific size of your truck.

The OEM Toyota bed extension is about $250.00 depending on where you buy it. You can get better aftermarket extensions for a heavier price. Some of them can even flip over so you can still use your tailgate for tailgate activities. Whether or not you want a bed extension is up to you, but I would definitely install one right after purchase.
