The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek was on center stage at the Shinjuku Subaru Building. What’s a rear projection mapping show?

What is a rear projection mapping show? It’s a cool way for an old friend to say goodbye after 48 years of a faithful business relationship. When a company is in a corporate building for 48 years it’s can be a hard thing to say goodbye. As a sign of gratitude to the Shinjuku area that was home to Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, for 48 years, the Shinjuku Subaru Building hosted a unique going away party. The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek was the car that was displayed using a unique and impressive Rear Projection Mapping show last night in Tokyo.

Subaru’s corporate headquarters are being moved to the Ebisu building in Tokyo on August 18. Subaru says the all-new facility will enhance the FHI office environment and allow more active internal/external communication. But just before the big move tomorrow, the Subaru XV Crosstrek was the Subaru car that was seen in the unique rear projection show just before the Subaru corporate headquarters gets brand new digs.

Shinjuku Subaru Building hosted a unique going away party

The old building is older and in need of an update, but there were many on hand recording the tribute last night. Subaru’s 2014 XV Crosstrek crossover could be seen behind the windows of the old building and it put on quite a show for the spectators. Subaru is excited to move their corporate headquarters and the new building sounds impressive.

FHI says, the design of the Ebisu Subaru Building will feature a sense of "speed" and "dynamism" like those felt with their automobiles. Externally and internally, the building incorporates dynamic horizontal motifs evocative of the Subaru spirit. The new corporate building is equipped with active communication hubs housing shared areas and functions, including office equipment and meeting nooks. Digital signage will display information aimed “at invigorating communication among employees.”

New building is eco-friendly

A range of eco-friendly technologies will reduce energy expenditure to optimize building lifecycle costs with building systems including air conditioning, lighting, and hot water supply is approximately 40% lower than in a typical office building. Because Japan is sitting on the Ring of Fire earthquake zone, it will feature seismic isolation technology and emergency generators to ensure that key head office functions can be maintained at the time of a major disaster.

New Subaru models will be on display

Subaru’s new automobiles like the 2014 XV Crosstrek Hybrid will be on display in the 1st floor showroom enhancing Subaru's brand message communication. The "EBiS 303" event hall on the 3rd floor, with a maximum capacity of 1,200 people, will be used for new vehicle launches and other events. FHI says they will take the relocation of its corporate headquarters “as an opportunity to strengthen its competitiveness and business structure to achieve further growth.”

But before the relocation on August 18, the outgoing Shinjuku Subaru Building hosted a unique going away party. It was a great way to say goodbye to an old friend. They used the 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek using a unique and impressive Rear Projection Mapping show last night in Tokyo. The onlookers were impressed and I’m sure Subaru was too.
