Subaru Canada is experiencing record growth and the 2016 WRX/STI is leading the lineup. Will WRX/STI’s success spur more stand alone STI models?

The 2016 Subaru WRX and WRX STI are hot and heating up the roads in Canada and Subaru Tecnica International (STI) is gaining more traction for the brand. The performance models from Subaru are way out ahead of the rest of the lineup in Canada in percentage of sales increase.

The WRX/STI performance sedans, Forester SUV, Crosstrek crossover, and Impreza compact all accomplished their best October sales with year-over-year growth of 49 percent, 30.9 percent, 24.2 percent and 22.1 percent respectively. Why are the performance models from Subaru so hot?

The 2016 Subaru WRX and WRX STI’s 49 percent growth is remarkable when compared to October of last year when the performance sedans received all-new body styling and engine and suspension upgrades over the previous generation. WRX/STI for 2016 received new infotainment and safety features and are experiencing even better sales than last year. Canadian performance enthusiasts are responding to the new performance upgrades and improved technology.

Subaru’s performance division Subaru Tecnica International (STI) has developed the type of performance that keeps the iconic cars hot performers on the road and track. WRX STI is currently Subaru’s only model from STI, but the performance arm of Subaru is cranking up their involvement with the brand. Performance fans will see other stand alone Subaru models like a BRZ STI in the future.

When Subaru Tecnica International (STI) unveiled the BRZ STI Concept at the 2015 New York International Auto Show, it was the global launch of the STI brand and signaled new STI models were coming. At the Tokyo Motor Show this week, STI launched a new WRX STI S207 for the Japan market. With the success that Subaru is having with the 2016 WRX and WRX STI, North America will see more STI’s coming in the future. Subaru has a good thing going with STI. Stay tuned.
