How Nissan Frontier Continues to Outperform its Aging Body

The 2017 Nissan Frontier hasn’t arrived, but the old Frontier continues to outperform its aging body.

When athletes get old they slow down, underperform and they are cut by their teams. The aging Nissan Frontier just continues to get better with age. Frontier is getting long in the tooth, but it hasn’t slowed sales this fall. The 2017 Nissan Frontier isn’t out yet, and the 2016 model is still selling like crazy.

In September, both the Frontier and new Titan pickups saw huge gains over the previous year’s monthly sales. The aging Frontier was up 64.5 percent and the full-size 2017 Titan is up 130.4 percent in its first full month of sales.

How does Frontier square up with the competition?

In the hot mid-size truck segment, the Nissan Frontier is third in sales YTD (69,388) behind the Toyota Tacoma (142,711) and the Chevy Colorado (80,047). It’s well ahead of the GMC Canyon (27,206) and the Honda Ridgeline (12,747). That’s pretty amazing considering the Frontier is in need of an overhaul. It shows just how good the Frontier is, and what could happen when the new-generation truck arrives in 2018.

While athletes get old, slow and broken down, the 2016 Nissan Frontier is going strong with no signs of its age hurting it. Nissan has introduced the new 2017 Titan and things are looking good for the full-size truck. Next in line is the Frontier that needs a makeover. Stay tuned.

You can bunch the Colorado and Canyon into the same boat as they are the same truck. So together they have sold over 107, 313 units and that is with the limited production capacity capacity GM is going through.

I do wonder how many units they will sell when production capacity is increased for model year 2017 and the truck gets the 8 speed automatic, the new 3.6L V6, production of the 2.8L diesel is increased and if the rumours if a Turbo 2.0L I4 are realized, imaging the Camaros 275 HP, 295 lb-ft at 3000 rpm with an 8 speed automatic crew cab. AWD, perfect personal mid size truck.

Frontier has been improved over the years since 2005 same truck but nissan kept fixing the problems every year and now they really dont have any problem with 2016 but as soon as 2017 comes out new challenge starts like every other manufacturer A first year of new model comes with new problems but more attractive looks and interior.

The new Nissan Frontier/Navara was introduced since last year all over the globe, it is only the US variant that's been left behind. The US finally recieved the new Nissan Armada, which is the same as the Nissan Patrol thats been around like about 5 years now, same design, same engine, just a different name for the US...

Please, the new Armada/Patrol, is an insult to the Storied Name. The patrol was a hard as nails Tank of a vehicle, Reinforced Ladder Frame, inline Diesel engines that not even a bullet could shut down, it was a go anywhere do anything Tank, not what Nissan has turned it into, A Soccer Mom SUV. Atlas Toyota, has realized that you can have it both ways, they make the J70, True Land Cruiser, a tough boxy go anywhere Box On Wheels that you can try to destroy but like Godzilla it just keeps on going, and for the Comfort class ( that's you soccer mommies ), Toyota makes the J200 full size and Land Cruiser Prado aka 4 Runner.

The 4 cylinder is just a proven workhorse. Cheap and proven reliable. It was not a hard decision to replace the 05 work trucks with nissans again.
