Introducing the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro by TopSpeed

We have looked at a great many 2016 Chevrolet Camaro renderings over the past year or so, but none of them were as well done, as well detailed or as realistic looking at these new images from the folks at TopSpeed.com – showing what could be a very good preview of what we might see when the 6th gen Camaro debuts in 2015.

The folks at TopSpeed put together some amazing automotive artistry and we have featured their work more than a few times here on TorqueNews, but this spread of 2016 Chevrolet Camaro renderings are among the best I’ve seen. The beauty of TopSpeed concept artwork is that they don’t just design a car based on their imagination – they base it on the little details captured from spy photography and on the final version of each image, they include cutaways of those details. Best of all, they also put together an over-under comparison of the current 2015 Chevrolet Camaro and their image of the 2016 Camaro to show what they expect to be the dimensional differences between the 5th and 6th generation muscle car.

The TopSpeed 2016 Camaro
The TopSpeed renderings of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro don’t show us anything that we didn’t expect. Instead, the artist(s) took all of the things that we have seen, heard and read about the 6th generation Camaro and put it into one beautifully drawn car with a collection of angles to show their 2016 Camaro from all sides.

Most notably, the TopSpeed 2016 Camaro looks remarkably like the current models, which is something that we have been told to expect for quite some time now. This evolutionary change includes sharper, more high tech looking headlights and taillights, a larger lower grille opening, a much more fluid roofline that runs through the back glass and a generally smaller overall shape thanks to the new Alpha chassis architecture. You may notice that TopSpeed has also excluded the “gills” from in front of the rear wheels, lowered the cowl portion of the hood and re-sculpted the side window glass.

Finally, the over-under shot of the 2016 Camaro by TopSpeed and the actual 2015 shows just how much shorter they believe it will be when riding on the new Alpha chassis platform.

Could the Real 2016 Camaro Look Like This?
Based on what we have seen from spy shots and video footage of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro test cars, it is hard to dispute the likelihood of the actual 6th gen Camaro looking very much like the TopSpeed Camaro.

General Motors execs have told us to expect an evolutionary design rather than a massive change, and this 2016 Camaro clearly has an evolutionary design. We have been told to expect a car that is slightly smaller thanks to the new platform, and this car is smaller than the current models while not shrinking too much. While the headlight and taillight details could vary from what is imagined by TopSpeed, I expect that the production 2016 Camaro will at least be shaped just like the car shown here.
