Hellcat Dodge Charger Runs a 10.59 Quarter Mile with Stock Power

While some Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat owners have improved their quarter mile times by adding lots more power, one Hellcat sedan owner in Canada has gotten his beast down into the 10.50 range without adding any sort of extra power.

Over the past year or so, we have featured a handful of different Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat models which have laid down impressive quarter mile times, but the vast majority of those cars have had some collection of modifications which increase the already lofty output of the Hellcat Hemi. Most of the cars that we have featured have been running nitrous oxide or more boost to dive deeper into the 10-second range, but Canadian Hellcat owner Mike Novak has proven that the 707 horsepower sedan will run mid-10s with nothing more than sticky tires and slightly steeper gears.

Stock Power Hellcat Charger Record
The Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat in the video below has been fitted with lightweight wheels (front and rear) with skinny tires up front and 305 Mickey Thompson ET Street R drag radials out back. It also has a Driveshaft Shop driveshaft (an essentially for a Hellcat car on sticky tires) and a set of 3.09 rear gears. Aside from new brake pads, everything else about this Hellcat Charger is stock, right down to the air filter.

With the factory-equipped power, 3.09 gears, sticky tires and a stronger driveshaft, Mike Novak and his Hellcat Charger ran a stunning 10.59 at 130.53 miles per hour. To my knowledge and the knowledge of all of the Hellcat owners (and racers) I know – which is a great many – this is the quickest quarter mile time laid down by a Hellcat Charger on stock power.

Mind you, we are talking about a 4,600lb, full size sedan without any extra power running a mid-10 second quarter mile time with good air, a good driver and good tires…and to think, when I proposed that these sedans could run in the mid-10s with nothing more than tires, people told me that I was crazy. Well, Mike Novak and his Hellcat Charger proved that I wasn’t crazy, as his stock-power Dodge sedan ran a 10.59 – and with temps dropping, we could see the car which he affectionately calls “the Fridge” running even quicker times later this year.

In the meantime, Mike Novak’s Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is the quickest stock-power Hellcat sedan in the world, but more importantly for non-Mopar fans, this video shows what the big Mopar muscle sedan is capable of with such simple modifications and a good driver.
