We are another week closer to the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and with this new week comes another look at the upcoming 2013 Buick Encore – a small SUV that will make its grand debut next week at Cobo Hall.

When General Motors introduced us to the 2013 Buick Encore with a head-on shot of the driver’s side headlight, the official Buick Facebook page unveiled a four quadrant image covered by a Buick logo. Under this black “curtain” is the new Encore compact SUV and Buick promised that each week leading up to the Detroit Auto Show unveiling of the 2013 Buick Encore, they would unveil a section of the image. The company began with the top left and showed us the hood and windshield while the second piece uncovered was the top rear section (click here for more). This week, we get a look at the lower left side corner and with it – our first good look at the front fascia of the upcoming Encore.

When the 2013 Buick Encore was first introduced three weeks ago, we were shown the headlight with a blue projection unit similar to that seen on the Buick Verano and with this newly unveiled portion of the Encore picture from the Buick FB page, we see that the Encore looks a great deal like the Opel Mokko with which it shares a platform. Thanks to the distinct headlight design, the waterfall style grille, the fog light bezels and the hood-mounted faux vents, the Encore looks more like a Buick than like a foreign model rebadged as a Buick (as they case has been in the past with some GM models). In addition to those distinct Buick features, the Encore has a mid-sized opening in the lower fascia flanked by what looks to be projection style fog lights in a bezel that is similar in design to what is used on the current Verano and LaCrosse.

General Motors has stated that they will remove that last piece of the puzzle covering the 2013 Buick Encore when the vehicle debuts next week at the 2012 NAIAS but considering that the media will be getting to meet the Encore on Tuesday face to face, the Buick Facebook page may have a whole complement of images to accompany the fully-uncovered imaged shown here on the right. Luckily, that lower right portion of the image will not show us much shy of the rear wheel (that will match the front wheel that we can already see), so the most interesting aspects of the Encore to see will be there rear end and interior – along with full specifications on the new compact SUV.

The 2013 Buick Encore will make its grand debut at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and TorqueNews will be there, bringing you all of the biggest news from the huge Cobo Hall show.
