The 2013 SRT Viper comes to Forza Motorsport 4 this Friday - for FREE

Less than an hour ago, the Drive SRT Facebook page announced that the 2013 SRT Viper would be arriving in the virtual dealerships of Forza Motorsport 4 this Friday (June 22nd) as downloadable content and – much to our surprise – it will be available from the Xbox Marketplace for free.

No information has been offered as to whether this “free” 2013 SRT Viper coming to the Xbox Marketplace this Friday will be a single vehicle or if it will be the “Viper Pack” that was discussed when the introduction of the new Viper to FM4 was announced in April. Footage taken from Forza gameplay around the public debut of the new American supercar showed just the 2013 SRT Viper GTS but with the Forza 4 name plastered all over the race-ready 2013 Viper GTS-R headed for the American LeMans Series, we would be shocked to see just one example of the newest Viper on FM4. You would think that since the 2013 Viper is available in base, GTS and GTS-R trim and that the original announcement pertaining to Forza 4 suggested that there would be a whole package for the Viper, there would be more than one 2013 Viper arriving but right now it is unclear whether this free car will be part of a free pack – or if it will just be a single free car to wet our whistle.

Giving the masses one 2013 Viper for free could influence some gamers who are “on the fence” to purchase a Viper Pack that isn’t free but in either case…we expect the new Viper to be awesome in Forza 4. Free car packs for Forza Motorsport 4 are always a good thing so this writer doesn’t care whether it is one car or a variety. However, if there is a more elaborate Viper Pack with more than one car, we can expect that there will also be some new races (likely in Monthly Rivals).

In addition to announcing that the 2013 SRT Viper was coming to Forza Motorsport 4 this Friday for free, the Drive SRT Facebook page ask that gamers snap an in-game image of their new virtual Viper and post it on either Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #firstSRTviper.

The 2013 SRT Viper is one of the featured vehicles on the upcoming open road racer Forza Horizon, appearing both on the cover of the game (in bright yellow) while also being used in the recent trailer that debuted at the E3 conference in LA. Rumors seem to suggest that Forza Horizon will have a more limited car list than Forza Motorsport 4 so hopefully FM4 will have at least a couple new Vipers. Having the 2013 Viper in Forza Horizon is great but with millions of Forza gamers around the world clamoring for the new Viper – many Mopar loving gamers are praying for a variety of new Vipers for Forza 4.

Again, the 2013 SRT Viper will arrive in the Xbox Marketplace this Friday (June 22nd) and at least one car will be free…although in-game credits will still be required unless Forza gifts every single person who plays with an Xbox Live membership a free Viper. We will know in a few days.
