The 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 to get new colors, stripes and technology

The 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 could very well be the greatest Mustang of all time but thanks to some leaked documents and screenshots from a SpeedTV program about the new Boss, we have an idea of what Ford plans to do in order to make the 2013 Mustang Boss 302 even better – including some new colors options, vintage-styled stripes and Ford’s Sync system.

The 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302 will bring about the second model year for the trimline dubbed one of the greatest Mustangs of all time and while the performance capabilities are incredible, some owners actually complained that their track-ready muscle cars didn’t have enough frills. Based on that feedback, rumors suggest that the 2013 Boss 302 will featured Ford’s Sync system controlled by a massive touchscreen in the center stack accompanied by a 4.2” information screen in the gauge cluster, similar to the information screens on the Ford F150. This Sync system will likely be mated to an impressive audio system – because that is what a track ready muscle car needs. Anyways, the documents that informed the world of the new technologies in the 2013 Boss 302 also indicated that HID headlights would be available but it is unclear whether they will be standard or optional.

Next, during a television program SpeedTV about the 2012 Boss 302, the camera panned past a poster with what appears to be information on the 2013 Boss 302 Mustang – most notably offering up the colors and stripe options for the 2012 models. It looks as though the 2013 Boss 302 will feature stripes similar to those found on the 1970 Boss 302, with a long stripe beginning in the middle of the hood and running out onto the trailing edge of the fender before continuing down to the rockers and flowing to the rear of the car. These stripes will also include the Boss 302 logo atop each of the front fenders for a more vintage look than what is offered on the current 2012 Boss Mustangs. This poster also shows the 2013 Mustang Boss 302 wearing a bright metallic green paint that could be called “Gotta have it gree” or “Grabber Green” – with the second one being a paint option for the 1970 Boss 302. This new green will be joined by Race Red, Grabber Blue, White and Yellow Blaze Tri Coat with the possibility of more but with the success of Dodge’s Green With Envy and Chevrolet’s Synergy Green, it is no surprise to see Ford pony up with their own flashy green paint option. Finally, based on the separation towards the bottom of the 2013 Boss 302 Mustang poster, it looks as though the Laguna Seca (or some other special edition model) will be offered in black or white.

While some speculate that this information was accidentally leaked by the SpeedTV people, considering the access given to them by Ford and the Motor Company's careful planning of who sees what inside of their facilities, this sounds more like Ford using this program to subtly offer information about their awesome Boss 302 Mustang in a way that will get more attention that a simple press release. After all, the automotive enthusiast loves leaks - no doubt about that. In any case, the new Mustang Boss 302 is an amazing machine and anything that Ford adds for 2013 can only make it greater.

Ford builds the best quality American brand cars. No question about it AND without a bailout they came back strong. GM and Chrysler still owe the government billions of dollars of taxpayer money.
