When the 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 reaches consumers next year, it will stake its claim as the most powerful and best handling factory-issued Ford Mustang ever built – an impressive claim for the new Boss 302 but just how much with this purpose built, limited edition Mustang Boss 302 cost? According to multiple sources, the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 will start at $40,995, tucking it between the standard Mustang GT and the high performance Shelby GT500.

There will be very few options for the 2012 Boss Mustang but for the standard Boss 302, buyers can select from a variety of color options and items like Recaro seats, a Torsen differential and an accessory package (floormats and a car cover) are available for an additional charge. Also, for those who want optimal track capabilities, the 2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca is available for just $47,990 – but keep in mind that the Boss 302 Laguna Seca package does not come with a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) thus it is not street legal.

The most powerful and most capable factory built Ford Mustang for under $41k

When the original Boss Mustangs were introduced in 1969, they were unlike anything the industry had seen in terms of a factory production, street legal performance car and the 2012 Boss 302 looks to reinvent the Boss Mustang name with the same unsurpassed performance capabilities. In addition to the Boss 302’s modified 5.0L v8 offering 440 horsepower (compared to the 412hp in the standard Mustang GT), the Boss will feature suspension, braking and aerodynamic changes to make this the ultimate factory built, non-SVT Ford Mustang.

The 2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca package takes the attitude of the 2012 Boss 302 one step further with a handful of modifications that make it fully ready for a romp around the toughest road courses in the country – hence being named after one of the toughest tracks in the country. This package removes the rear seat for weight reduction purposes and in its place, an x-brace improves chassis rigidity. The 2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca package then adds a slightly enhanced suspension and braking setup compared to the street legal Boss 302 and topping it off is a handful of exterior upgrades that improve the aerodynamic properties along with giving the limited edition track-built Mustang Boss 302 a menacing appearance.

The 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 is set to hit the streets early in the 2011 calendar year.

I'm liking the specs of this new Boss 302 and I'm really exciting about the competitive pricing that they are offering, but I know the dealer is gonna try and mark up the car due to the demand of the consumers. I'd guesstimate a mark up of no less than 10k, which brings the car up to about 51k before tax. When you look at it that way, I'm sure it changes the opinions of a lot of buyers. I really don't even thinking throwing in a Boss 302 or any type of mustang apparel shirt will sway consumers with the likely high dealer premium...
