Pininfarina, one of the greatest coach masters of the history of the automobile passed away today in Italy at the age of 85. Our condolences go to the Pininfarina family.

Tuesday morning around 9am local time (3am Eastern Standard Time), a 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck Northern Italy near Bologna, causing massive damage, 350 injured and at least 16 deaths – also causing Italian automakers Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and motorcycle builder Ducati to shut down their operations.

The Lamborghini Aventador is amazing in a variety of ways but now that various groups are getting their hands on the new supercar, the LP700-4 is not only exceeding the expectations of owners and test drivers around the world but the new Lambo is even exceeding the output expected by the automaker – with a recent test video showing the Aventador topping out at 230 miles per hour.

The first big news from Lamborghini came last evening when the company at the Frankfurt Auto Show unveiled the Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale and today, company CEO Stephan Winkelmann announced that the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento will go into production with the first carbon hypercars reaching consumers in early 2013.
