8 Toyotas, Including 2023 Tundra, Had Best-Ever First Half Sales. Did Your Favorite Make the List?

Can you guess the Top 8? How did 2023 Toyota Tundra and Sequoia do?

The first six months of 2023 were strong for many popular Toyota models. Toyota Motor North America released its sales performance report for both June and the first half of 2023 this week.

I wrote a Torque News / Toyota News story on the top selling Toyota hybrids yesterday. It was probably no surprise that 2023 RAV4 Hybrid came out on top, followed by Highlander Hybrid and Sienna Hybrid.

Today, though, I want to highlight the Toyotas that achieved their best “first halves” ever.

Did 2023 Toyota Tundra Make the List?

This is an interesting list of Toyota hybrid and gasoline-only vehicles (well, and one hydrogen-powered car). Keep in mind that several of the Toyota models appearing on this list are either brand new or newly redesigned, which makes sense to have them show up.

Toyota models having best first half ever:

  • Corolla Cross –    28,336
  • Corolla Hybrid –  23,101
  • Tundra Hybrid –  14,280
  • RAV4 Prime –      10,970
  • Sequoia –               9,577
  • bZ4X –                    3,659
  • Mirai –                    1,722

The GR Corolla was also reported as having achieved a best-ever first half of 2023, but I was not able to find that specific sales number.

Breaking Down the Top 8

What an eclectic group we have here.

The Mirai, Toyota’s hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle, is the only one I have not been able to drive yet (actually, I did drive the first generation Mirai, but the 2nd generation is so much improved that it is not fair for it to count).

That is one of the great benefits of selecting cars, trucks, and SUVs within the Toyota lineup. There is a vehicle for nearly every person.

I love the power, efficiency, and electric range of RAV4 Prime. I can see why 2023 RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid electric vehicle is so well-regarded.

Tundra and Sequoia are both enjoying new body styles, and they have impressed me in so many ways (especially Sequoia – that is one tough looking ride). Remember, 2023 Toyota Tundra and 2023 Sequoia both utilize the i-FORCE MAX powertrain. This produces 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. torque.

I hope buyers take a closer look at the bZ4X. This is funky fresh and unique, has strong driving range within its segment, has solid passenger space, and is fun to drive.

The versatility and efficiency of Corolla Cross (both gasoline and Corolla Cross Hybrid) should appeal to many different types of buyers. And 2023 Corolla Hybrid now has several different trim levels to choose from, making it an extremely attractive vehicle to consider.

The 2023 GR Corolla is so much fun behind the wheel. I was able to test GR Corolla on the track in Utah last fall, and the experience was a complete and total rush.
