Porsche Continues Its Solid Sales Growth; 5,059 Vehicles Delivered in September

Porsche continued its solid sales growth in September as the automaker reported increases in deliveries in nearly all of its lines. Only the Cayenne was down a bit.

Porsche, the luxury/performance subsidiary of Volkswagen if America, continued to report substantial growth for the year as the automaker delivered 5,059 vehicles. Except for Cayenne, Porsche vehicle sales were uniformly up across the board. While sales of the crossover Macan were up in September, sales of Cayenne, the automaker’s other crossover were off a bit. September sales better bright August numbers.

Porsche sales were up year-over-year

Overall, Porsche reported year-over-year retail delivers were up 12.9 percent, while year-to-date growth for 2017 was up 2.5 percent.

Looking at specific sales, the carmaker reported sales of the 911 up 14.4 percent, year-over-year with 532 deliveries reported. Last year, sales were 465 models. On a year-to-date basis, 2016 was stronger for 911 with 7,047 shipments compared to 6,530 this year.

Sales of the Boxster/Cayman line were up a bit in 2017 with 434 delivered in September. Last year, Porsche reported deliveries of 421 units. It was a 3.1 percent increase.

Porsche reported a significant sales increase for its Panamera sports sedan. For the month, sales of Panamera stood at 835 deliveries, almost a 135 percent sales leap. Last year, sales of Panamera were at 356 in September.

The carmaker reported that Macan sales reached an all-time high in September. For the month, Porsche sold 2,346 Macans, compared to 1,998 sold in 2016.

Cayenne sales were somewhat disappointing for 2017. Last month, Porsche delivered 912 Cayenne crossovers. This figure compared to 1,239 last year.

Porsche 911 sales were up 14.4 percent

Porsche 911 sales in the U.S. reached 532 units in September, a 14.4 percent increase year-over-year. Sales of the 718 Boxster and Cayman model line stood at 434, a 3.1 percent increase. The Panamera sports sedan posted 835 deliveries, up 134.6 percent compared to September 2016. Macan sales reached an all-time high of 2,346 units, posting an increase of 17.4 percent year-over-year.

Sales of Porsche Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles continued firm in September. Porsche reported that 1,550 CPO vehicles were moved in September, an increase of 16.2 percent, compared to last year. Year-to-date sales of CPO vehicles are up a solid 8.2 percent to 13,553 for the first nine months of 2017.
