Why This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is the Most Famous Car in America

Suddenly this picture is everywhere today, featured as part of a potential love story. Classic car lovers are entranced by the tricked out Chevy Chevelle!

Even people who don’t love classic cars are asking about this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS today. That’s because of the two people in the front seat. This photo was captured last night after the Kansas City Chiefs football game in Kansas City, Missouri. The tricked out classic car is owned by star player Travis Kelce and his companion is singing superstar Taylor Swift.

What we Know About the Chevelle

Travis Kelce has been spotted driving the convertible Chevelle SS around Kansas City, especially after the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVII in February. Considered one of the greatest tight ends of all time, Kelce is an eight-time Pro Bowler and a four-time first-team All-Pro selection. He holds the NFL record for most consecutive and most overall seasons with 1,000 yards receiving by a tight end with 7. He is apparently a car collector.

Travis Kelce's 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle

The 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle is definitely customized and riding on huge tires. Videos posted online by fans show the SS has custom headlights and black bumpers. Kelce has even talked about the car on the New Heights TikTok show he does with his brother, Jason. In a recent episode, Travis was inviting car lovers to Kelce Car Jams, a car show for charity he was sponsoring. He said he would be driving “Old School” in his 1970 Chevelle. He talked about the car’s engine sounding sweet. “Coming around the corner, it sounds so mean.”

The 1970 model of the Chevrolet Chevelle SS is one of the most desirable. Only approximately 1,100 1970 Chevelle SS396 convertibles were built.

Kelce and Swift Making Headlines

The Kelce and Swift storyline has been circulating for the last few weeks. He attended her concert in the area recently and invited her to come watch him rock the stadium. She was spotted in his family’s suite sitting next to his mother. They left the stadium in his Chevelle and rented out an entire restaurant to have dinner. Whether their dating continues remains to be seen, but at least the pair has drawn attention to a great classic car and reminded people how cool classics are.
