2024 Ram 1500 Wins Huge Honor for 6th Straight Year

Car and Driver is out with its 10Best list. The Ram 1500 makes the roster for its 6th straight year. We'll show you why.

Winning never gets old, especially when the award signifies that the vehicle is a great value for its owner. This is the sixth year that the 2024 Ram 1500 has earned a spot on the Car and Driver 10Best list. Car and Driver praises the truck’s wide-ranging lineup, available luxury and intrinsic value. The Ram 1500 was redesigned in 2018 as a 2019 model and has placed on the prestigious list every year since.

Car and Driver 10Best Highlights

Even Car and Driver points out that the Ram 1500 has made its list every year since it was redesigned. Car and Driver evaluates each contender versus its peers using a 100-point scale, basing each score on intended purpose, value and vehicle operation. To make the list, each vehicle must deliver on its intended purpose better than its competition, offer great value and be entertaining to drive. Vehicles that are new or significantly changed were invited to compete. Previous winners were invited to defend their crowns.

According to the editors, “With the Ram, there's something for everyone: refrigerator-white Tradesmans with vinyl upholstery, luxe Limiteds with interiors to rival a Range Rover, and supercharged 702-hp TRXs, if that's your thing. There are no duds in the lineup, and every truck is tangible evidence of Ram's mission to chisel away at Ford and GM's domestic-truck market share.”

Current Ram 1500 To be Redesigned for 2025

Ram has already confirmed that the 1500 will be at least freshened for 2025. While Ram is phasing out its popular HEMI engines, Car and Driver credits the company for keeping a powerful lineup. “Next year will bring a choice of turbocharged inline-sixes, an electric version, and a plug-in hybrid, as well as hands-free driving assist.”

Car and Driver also notes that the Ram 1500 isn’t resting on its laurels. “While traditionalism is often an excuse for technological stasis, the Ram 1500 defies truck dogma and offers four-corner air springs that can lower the body at speed or raise it for increased clearance off-road. The cabin can be had with quilted leather-upholstered seats—heated, ventilated, and reclining front and rear. The available multifunction tailgate is split and hinged both vertically and horizontally. Everywhere you look, there's evidence of creative thinking and the license to chase ideas that don't fit pickup preconceptions.”

“But the Ram 1500 also works damn fine as a truck. The optional lockable RamBox bins on either side of the bed are great places to stash tools. It can tow more than 12,000 pounds when properly equipped. And while the Ram hasn't embraced turbocharging—yet—its 5.7-liter V-8 makes 395 horsepower and all the right noises.”
