Subaru Teases All-New 2024 WRX TR - It’s Not About Brembo Brakes

Subaru of America announces the new 2024 Subaru WRX TR will debut at Subiefest on October 7. Here's what we know.

Subaru of America (SOA) announced a new 2024 Subaru WRX TR. The all-new performance model will debut at Subiefest in Florida at the Daytona International Speedway on October 7.

SOA teased the new 2024 WRX TR, but it's not about new Brembo brakes. Its latest upgrade will have to do with safety technology.

Here is what we know

Subaru announcement says, "The sharper and more enthusiast-focused 2024 WRX TR will debut at Subiefest Florida with the help of Travis Pastrana, Subaru Motorsports USA driver and extreme sport icon, and Bucky Lasek, legendary professional skateboarder and rallycross driver."

Here is what this automotive journalist thinks the new 2024 Subaru WRX TR will have as new equipment. Subaru of America has not confirmed the information I am sharing here. Subaru of America has always been secretive with its latest model launches, and this one is no different.

Subaru will likely unveil an all-new 2024 WRX TR with a 6-speed manual gearbox compatible with EyeSight, and the safety tech will now be a standard feature on the new WRX TR sports car.

I reported here in June that the BRZ was the first to get the new manual-compatible technology, and the WRX would follow.

Until now, Subaru Corporation has not fitted the WRX manual transmission models with EyeSight safety technology because they weren't willing to invest the resources to make the driver-assist system work with a manual gearbox. But that changed with the 2024 BRZ.

The BRZ tS was the first, the WRX is next

Like the BRZ tS, the 2024 Subaru WRX TR will get the same EyeSight safety tech fitted with the fully synchronized 6-speed manual transmission with incline start assist. We knew it was coming, and now it will be official on October 7, 2023.

Until now, customers had to buy the 2023 WRX GT with the Subaru Performance automatic Transmission with 8-speed manual mode, paddle shifters, and auto vehicle hold to get the EyeSight driver assist technology.

Subaru's core value is safety, and now, if my information is accurate, the WRX is the next Subaru model to get the new safety technology. Manual transmission versions of the Subaru WRX sports car account for most of the sales, and it's a significant improvement for Subaru to invest in the new technology.

Subiefest Florida is the state's largest annual gathering of Subaru enthusiasts and takes place at Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Florida, on Saturday, October 7.

SOA teased the new 2024 WRX TR, but it's not about new Brembo brakes. Look for the new 2024 Subaru WRX TR with a 6-speed manual gearbox to have EyeSight as standard equipment. Stay tuned.
