Subaru BRZ GT300 gets left in the dust in final race and finishes 17th

Team STI took the Subaru BRZ GT300 to Twin Ring Motegi circuit and was ready for the final race but the results were less than spectacular. This was the final race of the season and was held at Twin Ring Motegi race track that has a length of 4801km. The team only qualified in 19th position and finished in 17th place to finish out the season. But they do receive a trophy at the end of the race.

BRZ GT300 starts too far back to catch the leaders

Drivers Takuto Iguchi and Kota Sasaki piloted the Subaru BRZ GT300 in the 250-kilometer race and came away with disappointment after the long race. Iguchi, drove the car in the first half of the race, but had problems in traffic because the track is very narrow leaving very little room for maneuvering in the middle distance. He handed over control to Sasaki who also drove without much luster and saw the checkered flag waved and finished in 17th place.

Iguchi will learn from the experience

After the race, Iguchi said: "In this race for me, starting with the start of the pre-arrival and ending with the finish in the final, it was a feeling that we have literally nothing. This year there were a lot of high-speed racing, and I personally as a pilot gained a lot of experience. Yes, the result of the final race is disappointing, but this negative experience should come in handy in the future. We will continue to fight in the next stages."

Tatsumi Eiji apologizes to Subaru fans

STI Team Director Tatsumi Eiji commented after the race: "We did a great job, but still the main problem was not solved. Our result is regrettable. We apologize to all our fans.Glancing at the passing year, I can say that throughout the season we have tried very hard to adequately prepare the car not only to the preliminary heats, but also to the finals, but the result is still unsatisfactory. The same applies to the final stage of the year: I think that we have made every effort to successful performance. Many thanks to all those who have always supported us!"

STI gets a trophy

Not all was disappointing after the race. At the official closing ceremony of the season, STI and the Subaru BRZ GT300 was awarded the trophy, from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as "the car which showed the best results among the GT models from the Japan Automobile Federation." Tatsumi represented the STI team at the podium and received the trophy cup from the race organizers. It was a good year for STI and the Subaru BRZ GT300, but unfortunately, the team will remember this race until they get on the track again next year.
