Mercedes-Benz introduces the new 2014 S65 AMG with twelve cylinders and twin turbos for extreme driving performance.

What happens when AMG in Affalterbach adds twelve cylinders and twin-turbocharging to the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class luxury sedan? You get extreme performance and the most powerful luxury vehicle in the segment on the planet. Mercedes-AMG is known for exceptional performance and outstanding driving dynamics, and the all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG performance saloon does not disappoint.

This is why we love Mercedes-AMG here at Torque News, it doesn’t get any better than this. Mercedes-AMG has to be the top tuner in the world. Who else would take a hand-built AMG 6.0-liter V12 biturbo engine and put it in a luxury saloon? Only the boys in Affalterbach, Germany who make it their job to create the most exciting performance cars on the planet.

S65 AMG outperforms all others

The new S65 AMG with a 6.0-liter V12 biturbo engine delivers 463 kW (630 hp) with a maximum torque of 1000 newton meters (737 lb. ft). Those impressive numbers translate to some exciting performance and enables the S 65 AMG to outperform all other vehicles in its segment. How about the luxury saloons sprint time of 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). That pretty much tells the story.

But there is more. AMG mated the 6.0-liter V12 biturbo engine with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC. The seven-speed automatic transmission features a wide ratio gear spread that reduces engine speed level. It allows the new luxury performance sedan to achieve lower fuel consumption than its predecessor. Fuel consumption has been reduced by 2.4 litres per 100 kilometres (NEDC, combined).

Mercedes says the efficiency of the power train is further significantly improved by the fuel-economy converter, reduced-friction bearings and transmission oil heat management. It also gets an aluminum crankcase, forged alloy-steel crankshaft, multi-spark ignition and water intercooler.

More goodies from AMG

The new S65 also features an AMG sports suspension, high-performance weight-reducing lithium-ion battery, AMG speed-sensitive sports steering, lightweight alloy wheels, and performance AMG ceramic composite brakes (optional).

The new S65 AMG comes with "V12 BITURBO" lettering on the wings and the "S 65 AMG" model badge on the trunk lid so those who see it on the street can tell this beauty id something special. The AMG sports exhaust system with its two chrome-plated, separate twin tailpipes is another source of fascination that sets it apart and makes the exhaust note a wonderful thing.

Inside, the S65 AMG also gets special treatments like AMG sports seats, illuminated AMG stainless-steel door sill panels, 2-spoke AMG Sports steering wheel, AMG instrument cluster with red/silver needles chrome-plated door pins with AMG logo rounds out the exquisite S65 AMG interior.

The new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG AMG V12 saloon will make its double world premiere simultaneously at the Los Angeles International Auto Show and at the Tokyo Motor Show on November 20, 2013. The market launch will start in March 2014 in Europe with a starting price of 232,050 euros.
