Special Edition 2015 Prius adds to evidence of an all-new 2016 model

The 2015 Prius Persona Series Special Edition will help keep buyers interested until the all-new Prius arrives.

Automakers all have their traditions and rolling out a “Special Edition” shortly before the introduction of an entirely new model is one of them. Toyota’s 2015 Prius Persona Series should do the trick for Toyota. Although Prius sales have been bumpy lately, the model is still the best-selling green car on Earth, and it still outsells every model with a plug. Toyota sold forty times more Prius cars in June than Tesla sold Model S cars. In fact, the Prius outsold the entire US EV market combined last month by about double. Not bad for a model that has been in its current form since 2009. That said, the time has come and gone for a new Prius. We predict it will be a 2016 model and will top 60 MPG.

2015 Toyota Prius Persona Series Appearance Upgrades
The Prius Persona Series is a looker if you like geek-chic. There will be two colors, absolutely Red and Blizzard Pearl, a color not previously used on any Prius. The rims are also very special. Seventeen inch alloys done in a classy-cool black metallic. These tires and rims would like right at home on the Scion FR-S. If my memory is correct, they are the same size too. Hmm. Better opt for those wheel locks. The overall look will be the best a Prius can be unless you count the Lexus CT 200h F Sport.

2015 Toyota Prius Persona Series Interior and Equipment Upgrades

Inside, the Toyota Prius Persona Series will have SofTex seating, just like the upcoming Lexus NX will have. The black SofTex will be highlighted by gray stitching. SofTex will also coat the steering wheel. That wheel along with the shift knob and door grips will be dark chrome. Heated mirrors with turn signal indicators will be exclusive to this series as well.

Toyota Prius Persona Series Prices and Inventory
The new special edition will start at $ 26,985. If you opt for the Blizzard Pearl paint you need to kick in another $ 395. These prices do not include delivery, or the always painful dealer documentation fees. Out the door, figure close to $29K before you negotiate that down.

Why wait for the new Prius? The current Prius is capable of an amazing 50 MPG on regular unleaded fuel, has had bullet-proof reliability, and has earned the IIHS’ Top Safety Pick+ rating, the best safety rating in the US market. Toyota says that 2015 Prius Persona Series cars start to arrive at dealers in September.
