MINI Swindon and Crowley

MINI camping options are cozy and fun for wilderness adventures or tailgating in style

MINI has developed some custom camping options to highlight the brands flexibility and emphasis on fun

Spring has sprung and MINI is celebrating the great outdoors by showing off a complete camping package that can accommodate four people in rustic comfort. Following on the heels of the MINI Clubvan concept shown off at the Geneva Auto Show, MINI has now added to the outdoor offerings. Skirting the line between rough and tumble outdoor adventure and luxury camping, or glamping, the new rig from MINI starts with the MINI Countryman. The Countryman is the largest of the MINI lineup, called the MINI Maximus by MINI. Looking butch with its bulldog stance and raised platform, the all-wheel-drive Countryman is ideal starting point from which to build a fantastic camping machine.

MINI Camping Trailer
The MINI camping system starts with an attractive retro-mod looking trailer it calls the “Crowley.” Only five inches wider than the car itself, the Crowley’s styling shows its family resemblance. Colors are in the John Cooper Works tradition. The Crowley is the kitchen, master bedroom, and power plant for your campsite. Starting with a twin burner gas stove, the MINI kitchen is ready to create comfort food for its owners and their guests. Storage space and lighting make the kitchen user friendly. A refrigerator keeps the perishables and libations cool. Ice is just so yesteryear. A water tank and pump system for cleanup complete the kitchen.

Solar Generator
No campsite is complete without an entertainment system and the Crowley delivers. A TV/DVD system and stereo system are run off the supplemental battery carried by the camper and can be charged up with the solar cells on top.

MINI Rooftop Tent
The loft is a two-person snug mounted on the roof rails of the Countryman called the Swindon. Inside a cozy sleeping compartment makes for the perfect retreat after a day of fishing, hiking and biking. Raised up and off the ground, the occupants are kept safe from woodland creatures. In fact, the Swindon has been tested and certified “Gruffalo-proof” by the European animal testing society (not).

MINI continues to offer novel and useful motoring ideas for those who wish to to keep the footprint small but the fun big.
