The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is Bringing Hellcat Power to New York

This afternoon at a media event for the 2018 Jeep Compass, Jeep boss Mike Manley confirmed that the Hellcat-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will make its grand debut at the New York International Auto Show in Detroit - ending the long wait for the supercharged super sport utility vehicle.

Since Jeep boss Mike Manley announced at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show that a Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee would hit dealerships before the end of 2017, the speculation began as to where the supercharged SUV might make its grand debut.

Rumors and erroneous reports first suggested that the Hellcat Grand Cherokee - expected to be called the Trackhawk - would debut in Detroit, but that didnt happen. Those rumors then shifted the Hellcat Jeep launch to Chicago, but once again, there was no Trackhawk to be seen in the Windy City. That left New York as the only remaining choice in terms of major auto shows early enough for a 2018 model year debut, but that seemed unlikely with the pending arrival of the new, more powerful version of the Hellcat Challenger.

When it seemed unlikely that FCA would debut two new, high powered vehicles at the same auto show, it seemed as though the Trackhawk Jeep wouldnt debut there, either. With that in mind, when insider information suggested that the Hellcat Jeep would make its debut at the 2017 Woodward Dream Cruise in August, that made good sense. While a debut away from a major auto show is unusual, it is not unheard of. Dodge debuted the Hellcat Charger at the Dream Cruise in 2014, so perhaps they would follow that up with another supercharged debut at Detroit's gigantic automotive event.

Well, all of the speculation as to when the Hellcat-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk ended today, as Mike Manley has announced that the monster Jeep will debut in New York city in April.

Unfortunately, that is basically the end of the story for today, as there is no other information to go with this news, but at long last, we know that the Hellcat-powered Jeep will finally be revealed in New York in about 7 weeks. When it arrives, it will likely be the most powerful, the quickest and the fastest SUV in the world, giving FCA one more feather in their high performance hat - joining the world's fastest sedan (Hellcat Charger) and the world's fastest current production muscle car (Hellcat Challenger).

It is a great time to be a horsepower junkie - even better if you are a fan of the Dodge and Jeep brands.
