The 2017 Nissan Rogue is now the brand’s top selling vehicle. What popular vehicle did it replace?

For the first time, the 2017 Nissan Rogue crossover is now the brand’s top-selling model in America with 329,904 sales, an increase of 14.9 percent. The 2017 Nissan Altima was the number one seller in the lineup until Rogue took it away. The Altima sedan was a close second at 307,380 units in the US.

The Rogue has been on the climb ever since the introduction of the completely redesigned second-generation model for 2014. The crossover has seen three straight years of sales growth. It took another big step forward for 2017 with new styling, enhanced utility and an expanded suite of Nissan Safety Shield technologies, and it helped push sales even higher.

A new Rogue Hybrid

Nissan also introduced a new hybrid variant late last year. The Nissan Rogue Hybrid now offers a second powertrain choice for Rogue buyers for the 2017 model year. It comes in FWD and AWD configurations. Read the full review here.

Many thought the new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story partnership would help sell the Rogue Limited Edition models, but consumers aren't buying the special model. The new Star Wars movie is bringing in new buyers to dealer showrooms and the Rogue is selling well because of it.

The Rogue will likely keep its top spot in the lineup as Nissan is set to unveil a new entry-level Rogue Select at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week. The new Nissan Rogue Select will be priced at the low end of the popular crossover’s pricing structure, and is expected to attract even more buyers to the brand. Stay tuned.
