The price of a new 2020 Honda Civic, CR-V, or Accord is dropping over last years sales figures according to a new report from TrueCar. That’s good news for Honda car shoppers who may be looking to buy a new Honda now. Not only are Honda prices down, but the Japanese automaker also raised incentives.
The average transaction price for Honda vehicles in 2019 is $28,056 and $28,264 in 2018 down 0.7 percent year-over-year. As the 2019 models are still on dealer lots, they want to move inventory before the new 2020 models arrived. The new 2020 Honda Civic gets upgrades, but 2019 models also received improvements.
TrueCar says Honda incentives are up for Honda by 4.2 percent in 2019. This is the discount dealers are giving customers on average for each vehicle they sell. Honda is spending $2,017 per vehicle on incentives to move cars off their lots as of July 2019. That’s up 4.5 percent from last year.

The sport-tuned Si variants stay with the same 205-horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque in the 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox as the only transmission. New for the 2020 model change is a 6-percent shorter final-drive ratio in the 6-speed, giving the Civic Si improved acceleration over last year’s model.
The 2020 Si also gets revised styling to the lower bumper fog light housings, which now feature gloss black surrounding trim and a body-color crossbar. The signature "wing" grille crossbar is updated, new LED fog lights have been added, and the headlights now feature multi-element LED lamps with a wider and longer light beam.
Honda has its Honda Sensing safety tech now on all of its vehicles. The safety suite includes collision management braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and traffic sign recognition systems. Honda has other driver-assist tech like Lane Watch, blind spot information, cross-traffic monitor, and auto high-beam headlights for added safety.
It’s a good time to buy a new 2019 or 2020 Honda Civic, CR-V- or Accord. Prices have dropped on the 2019 models before the 2020 model change.

Would you buy a 2019 model for a few hundred dollars less or wait for the 2020 model change?
Depends if you're looking for
Depends if you're looking for financing or cash. The 2020 will have much higher finance rates, and no rebates. If you're looking for a cash purchase you'll save some money back in resale in the long run, but since it's not a total design change the price will be fairly similar.

Would be even better news if we knew if the oil gas dilution issue on the 1.5T would be addressed going into the 2020 model year.
The Accord is still suffering
The Accord is still suffering from growing pains. 2018 was the start of the 10th generation. I'm waiting until 2021/22 models, on the hopes there are less potential serious problems.
Congrats if your Accord is problem free. There's a fair number that aren't. I can wait it out.
