Stability offroad is the hallmark of the Nissan Xterra SUV and it's also a hallmark of the Xterra's MSRP, which holds steady for the new model year despite several improvements to the SUV's options.

For the 2014 model year, the Nissan Xterra sees the addition of new 16-inch alloy wheel designs, new Hyper Silver paint for grille and underguard treatment, Bluetooth and steering wheel audio controls being added to the base model as standard, and more.

The 2014 Nissan Xterra will continue to be sold in three model grades: the X, S and Pro-4X. The X is the base model while the S and Pro-4X are the premium grades. The X and S trims are available in two-wheel or four-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission is available in both the S and Pro-4X trim levels while a five-speed automatic is standard in all three trim levels.

The proven, advanced 4.0-liter dual overhead cam (DOHC) V6 engine outputting 261 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque is the engine that comes standard across the board. This engine has been in use for years and is well-understood to be a proven performer with a solid reputation for reliability. Its power output is an exact match to the needs of the Xterra and its brother the Frontier pickup truck.

The two-wheel drive options for the Xterra include:
The 2014 Xterra X 4x2 V6 with five-speed automatic transmission starts at $23,110. This trim level comes standard with the 4.0L engine, push-type HVAC controls, Bluetooth, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, and a newly-upgraded audio system for better sound quality in the base model. Several options for upgrade are available, including the NissanConnect system with SiriusXM integration.

The 2014 Xterra S 4x2 V6 with automatic transmission begins at $25,020 and offers several upgrades from the base X model. These include, as standard, everything on the X grade plus audio and other updates for technology and comfort.

The four-wheel drive options for the Xterra include:
The 2014 Xterra X 4x4 V6 with a five-speed automatic starts at $25,160 and includes everything in the two-wheel drive package above but on a four-wheel platform.

The 2014 Xterra S 4x4 V6 with a five-speed automatic transmission starts at $27,070, but a six-speed manual transmission can be had for $26,020. These include everything in the two-wheel package, but upgraded to four-wheel drive.

Finally, the top-level Pro-4X packaging, which adds huge amounts of offroad capability, is available in both a six-speed automatic and five-speed manual transmission for $31,090 and $30,040 respectively. The Pro-4X comes standard with heated front cloth seating (upgradeable to heated leather) and several offroad options.

All Xterra packages can have towing, navigation, and other additions added as options, including the exellent Rockford Fosgate premium audio system.

All prices listed are manufacturer's suggested retail pricing (MSRP) and do not include destination charges. The 2014 Xterra is made alongside the Nissan Frontier in the U.S.A.
