Nowadays it seems that all types of companies have eBay storefronts, no matter what they sell. Automakers are no exception to this trend, as Nissan recently launched an official eBay storefront in the United Kingdom (UK).

What does this new eBay storefront sell? A variety of Nissan products which includes official parts, accessories and merchandise, all on eBay, the world's largest online marketplace.

The Nissan eBay storefront opened for business last week and aims to make buying easier for UK customers wanting Nissan genuine parts and accessories. All items listed are “Buy It Now” meaning they aren't auctioned, like many eBay products and items.

“We are delighted to have Nissan join the 100 well-known brands that already sell new and fixed price goods through our site, and fully expect that sales will show Nissan owners value the convenience of buying parts online.” said Angus McCarey, UK Retail Director of eBay.

The eBay storefront is an interesting development, as this is Nissan’s first major venture into e-commerce in the UK. It allows the company to reach the 17.7 million unique users that visit eBay UK every month. Car parts and accessories is one of the most popular categories on eBay.

All items sold through the Nissan's official eBay storefront will be packaged and posted for free, which is great for customers. Nissan’s parts will be shipped from the warehouse in Lutterworth, Leicestershire. All products come with a standard 12 month warranty too.

Parts that will be sold on eBay will include filters, mirrors, brake pads and discs. These will be available for a selection of models which includes the Qashqai, Micra and Note. (These are models not available in the US.) Owners of models such as Primera and Almera will also be able to buy parts online. There is still a high demand for genuine parts on older models which continue to run well.

Also accessories and merchandise will be sold on the eBay store. Products include a funky GT-R iPhone4 covers and polo shirts available for different models like the Nissan GT-R and 370Z. (I assume the GT-R iPhone4 cover is just what Nissan GT-R owner would like to have!)

“We understand that owners of older Nissan models may not have visited their local Nissan dealer for their parts needs.” said Robert Lujan, Nissan’s Aftersales Director. “Our new eBay store is perfect for them. These customers can shop at their convenience and be safe in the knowledge that they are buying genuine Nissan parts and accessories.”

The real question, will an eBay storefront help drive sales of Nissan vehicles in the UK? I doubt it, but it is is nice Nissan customers in the UK can order that perfect iPhone4 cover they have always wanted and have it delivered right to their door for free.
