The Chrysler Group announced the details for their 2013 Ram 1500 today with a slight facelift, more power from the Hemi, the new Pentastar V6, an air suspension system, start/stop technology and an 8-speed automatic transmission for both engines that is expected to help increase fuel economy by roughly 20%.

The 2013 SRT Viper is the big news from the Chrysler Group headed into the 2012 New York Auto Show but beginning tomorrow, the Ram Truck brand will begin teasing a new model of its own on Twitter and Facebook ahead of the public debut set for April 5th.

Ram Truck unveiled the new Ram 2500 Heavy Duty CNG pickup truck at the National Truck Equipment Association show, making the Chrysler subsidiary the first pickup truck in North America available direct from the manufacturer as a compressed natural gas bi-fuel truck.

Earlier this year, I had a chance to speak with SRT CEO Ralph Gilles about the possibility of seeing an SRT-powered Ram in the future and while he couldn’t offer any future product plans, the Ram 392 Quick Silver coming to the 2011 SEMA Show could be a preview of “what could be” if Gilles’ SRT engineers were to build a Ram 1500 of their own.
