Lexus shows holiday spirit via Toys for Tots fundraising

During their annual December to Remember sales event, Lexus just announced they will donate $5 to Toys for Tots for every big red bow shared via Facebook and Twitter. The campaign runs through Jan. 3, 2012, with Lexus providing up to a $100,000 donation for the social media fundraiser.

Lexus fans can make sure the donation is made simply by sharing the message on their home page with a simple mouseclick on the December to Remember tab at Facebook Lexus. That’s all there is to it. Twitter users can spread the same holiday joy using the #lexusbigredbow hash tag. This marks the first time Lexus has done a charitable drive using social media.

“The annual Lexus December to Remember campaign has become an iconic part of the holidays over the years,” said Brian Smith, Lexus vice president of marketing. “By engaging our fans and followers via social media, we’re welcoming them to join in the holiday cheer while raising funds for a meaningful cause.”

Having heard Smith give his heartfelt pitch for the new Lexus GS 350 at the media intro last week at the Las Vegas Speedway, we have no reason to doubt this genuine and personable executive’s words.

The campaign is part of The Lexus Pursuit of Potential, Lexus' philanthropic initiative that generates up to $5 million annually for organizations that help build, shape and improve children’s lives.

This is an admirable application of that spirit at a most appropriate time of year.
