Ford Pickups Continues To Lead The Market for the 47th Year

As 2024 dawns and people look at achievement, Ford has an enviable record in the pickup truck world.

An old saying is that “records are made to be broken.” However, if you are the Ford Motor Co., one record continues to stand the mark of time and proves that folks like Ford truck products of all types, even those that are "selling slowly."

Ford Touts A Record Only It Can Have

As the calendar turns to 2024, Ford rightly touts its new record. For the 47th year, the automaker has the best-selling truck in the nation. Imagine what it has been like for Ford, from the first few years of leading the market when things were light and easy to the middle years when Ford was recognized as a truck leader. Now, the automaker is headed toward half a century of leading the truck market.

An enthusiastic Robert KaffL, director of U.S. sales, had this to say today over this latest development in a long, enthusiastic statement.

“Today, I am thrilled to share a milestone that fills all of us at Ford with immense pride. In 2023, more than 700,000 customers chose a new Ford F-Series truck, making it the best-selling truck in the United States for the 47th consecutive year. It retains its lead even as it battles the competition.

It’s a streak that spans four generations (and started when I was only four). It has lasted longer than many other popular consumer products, including compact discs and mp3 players, and the brick-and-mortar video rental industry. But this accolade is not a walk down memory lane; the F-Series continues to grow and, in 2023, remains the best-selling vehicle in the nation for the 42nd year in a row."

F-Series Is A Tribute To Excellence

The F-Series is a testament to our commitment to excellence, innovation, and understanding the needs of our customers. Our trucks are Built Ford Tough, and they embody the strength, reliability, and versatility that our customers have come to rely on for nearly half a century. The F-Series represents the best of Ford and how we’re creating new digital experiences: it features available technologies like Pro Power Onboard2, which helps customers power work sites or even their homes in the event of a power outage; features that make it easier to hitch and tow a trailer, and even BlueCruise hands-free highway driving. Interestingly, Ford led the country in safety recalls again last year. It shows Ford's commitment to customer safety.

One key to our success in 2023 and beyond is the diversity of our powertrain offerings. We understand that our customers have unique needs, whether on the job site, the farm, or embarking on a weekend adventure. That's why we're proud that the Ford F-150® PowerBoost Hybrid has claimed the title of the best-selling full-size full-hybrid pickup in America1 (and ranks second overall among all pickups behind the Ford Maverick).

The electrification of the F-Series is also making waves, with the F-150 Lightning leading the charge as the best-selling full-size electric pickup truck in the U.S. It has also been competing for the U.S. truck leadership triple crown. As we continue pushing the boundaries of what electric vehicles can do, the F-150 Lightning is a shining example of our dedication to a more sustainable future without compromising power and performance.

Ford Looks Forward To Production Lead

We look forward to beginning production of the new 2024 gas and hybrid F-150 models early in the year. Our unwavering focus on growth across gas, hybrid, and electric models in 2024 reflects our promise to offer every customer a truck that fits seamlessly into their lifestyle. In another Ford note, the automaker is ready to deliver; as one model slows, it has another ready to go.

The enduring legacy of the F-Series is not just a result of our relentless pursuit of improvement but also a reflection of the trust between our company and customers. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve our customers and are committed to continuing to earn their business daily.  Meanwhile, Ford continues its lead in the pickup world for the 47th consecutive year.
