Buick Offers Sneak Peek of 2022 Enclave and Details on All-New 2021 Envision

The 2022 Buick Enclave is adding a luxury trim package but it's little brother the 2021 Envision is all-new. See the new faces of the Buick lineup.

The 2022 Buick Enclave is being refreshed. You can see in the photo Buick provided that the model, which will debut later this year, is sleeker and has modern LED lighting upgrades. Most importantly, the picture description calls it a Buick Enclave Avenir. Avenir is the new high-end luxury designation for Buick, so the revamped model is getting a new top-of-the-line version.

The Buick Enclave is the vehicle that saved the Buick brand. I was there when Tiger Woods helped unveil it. The Enclave made Buick relevant again, especially to families. The SUV is smaller and more tapered than the Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe. That makes the Buick Enclave easier to handle and much easier to park. It handles more like a car or minivan and is an easier transition for many families. It also has been a great seller in China.
Buick says the new 2022 Enclave will be a seven-passenger premium SUV that will be Buick’s flagship vehicle.

Buick also is unveiling the all-new 2021 Buick Envision that is a smaller sibling of the Enclave. The 2021 Buick Envision compact SUV fills the gap between the smaller Buick Encore and the larger Buick Enclave.

“The all-new 2021 Envision is a tremendous opportunity for the brand,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president, Global Buick and GMC. “With strong, differentiated designs, and a combination of advanced technologies and premium appointments, it will stand apart in one of the industry’s most competitive segments.”

For now, Buick has gone with all SUVs and the brand has positioned its vehicles for the luxury buyers. It is targeting older drivers who are interested in down-sizing but still want all of the luxury appointments and younger buyers who want to treat themselves to the luxury experience.

The redesigned Envision is lower and wider, with proportions and styling that combine the expressiveness of a car with the practicality of an SUV. Interestingly, the 2021 Envision is also offering an Avenir version. The 2021 Envision Avenir is distinguished by an exclusive mesh grille design, with tinted chrome trim and unique 20-inch wheels with a Pearl Nickel finish.

Concerned About Air Quality During COVID?

The 2021 Buick Envision also offers an interesting new feature. It comes with an air ionizer and an Air Quality Indicator that checks on the air in the cabin. Being able to monitor the air quality may be especially attractive for drivers who spend a lot of time in a relatively small vehicle. Air quality has become a major issue during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Duncan Aldred describes the Envision this way. “From its striking styling and performance, to its intuitive technologies, to its expressive attitude and SUV practicality, the 2021 Envision is everything we want Buick to be for today’s customers.”

The 2021 Buick Envision is loaded with infotainment and the latest safety technology. It features Buick’s first available 10.2-inch-diagonal color touchscreen. It also can be paired with Amazon’s Alexa. Five-passenger seating is standard. The 60/40-split second row can fold flat to expand the cargo floor.

The 2021 Buick Envision is powered by a 2.0L turbo I-4 engine. It has 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. The Envision is on sale now. The MSRP starts at $32,995 and goes up depending on the trim level.
