The 2024 GMC HUMMER EV Intends to be the Big Dog in the Overlanding Market

This weekend, GMC and EarthCruiser debuted a tricked-out GMC HUMMER EV in Colorado. It will provide all the creature comforts plus be all-electric.

Overlanding has grown into a large section of the off-roading market. EarthCruiser and GMC chose Colorado this weekend for the debut of the highly anticipated all-electric GMC HUMMER EV EarthCruiser. This EarthCruiser upfit brings all of the benefits of overlanding into the full BEV realm. The 2024 GMC HUMMER EV is one of the largest EVs available, so it has room for all of the comfort as well as the state-of-the-art equipment. The fully functional GMC HUMMER EV EarthCruiser appeared at the Overland Expo Mountain West in Loveland, Colorado.

"We are proud to work with GMC on the design and manufacturing of such an exceptional product. It feels right, it feels like it belongs," said EarthCruiser CEO and Founder Lance Gillies. "Using our years of overlanding expertise, we have ensured nothing is out of place, unnecessary or wasted in this vehicle. This collaboration with the GMC team has provided the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the zero-tailpipe emission possibilities for overland and recreational vehicle travelers. We have produced a comfortable, capable product, built to a high caliber of excellence – one that our customers can take pride in.”

GMC HUMMER EV EarthCruiser Upfit

The carbon fiber EarthCruiser pop-up house is incorporated into the chassis of the GMC HUMMER EV Pickup. The rig is outfitted with an onboard solar power unit along with an innovative system of 6 kilowatt hours of 12V lithium battery. The solar power should provide an estimated seven days of off-grid power. It would give the operator enough power to run a refrigerator/freezer for about a week.

EarthCruiser is considered one of the foremost upfitters in the overlanding world. It’s rigs are expensive but incredibly rugged. While the overlanding vehicles have all of the comforts of recreational vehicles, the EarthCruisers are designed for going off-road and into areas that often have no roads at all. EarthCruiser’s designs are known for holding up well, especially in the deep woods or far off the trails. EarthCruiser’s amenities include a full-size bed for comfortable sleeping, a range of appliances, indoor and outdoor shower, 120V and 12V outlets, purposeful storage and a flat-pack toilet.

The new GMC HUMMER EV EarthCruiser is designed to sleep two people. It has a sink, an induction cooktop, refrigerator/ freezer, storage drawers and cabinets and dimmable interior lighting. It has a water heater and outdoor shower. It also has a 13.5-gallon freshwater tank. There is also a full set of exterior lights.

A 7-inch-diagonal touchscreen system puts most of the controls in one place and makes them easy to use.
