Subaru LEVORG to make global debut with new DIT turbo engine

The Tokyo Motor Show is coming and Subaru will bring a new market launch called the LEVORG with a newly-developed turbo engine. Subaru is launching the new touring car next year and the prototype concept car will be unveiled in Tokyo next month. Subaru just announced the the new concept tourer will make it to production and will make its Japan market launch in 2014.

The car is currently under development in Japan for production and is a new generation of wagon for the Japanese market. Subaru says the name "LEVORG" is derived from a combination of the words "Legacy", "Revolution" and "Touring." It will be a new Japan market touring car that will feature new innovations. And it sounds like it will be sporty.

Subaru says it will feature its latest technologies in safety, driving dynamics and fuel-efficiency “at an exceptional level.” The big news coming out of Subaru is that the Tokyo automaker says this new sport tourer will be powered with a new Boxer engine they've been working on for quite some time. And yes it will be the new DIT Direct Injection Turbo engine we have been wondering about.

This newly-developed engine will be a 1.6-liter Horizontally-Opposed direct injection turbocharged powerplant that was developed from the FB family of engines. This will be the first turbocharged version of the FB16 engine that will make it to market. That’s good news for performance fans because of a new FA20 2.0 liter turbo engine that may not be far behind for the BRZ.

It sounds like the new Japan market LEVORG will be sporty. It will get a new exterior design and driving dynamics that will be sporty with the new turbo engine. Subaru sats it will offer the best in driveability, safety and environmental friendliness, combined with the practicality of a touring car. It will be a new type of sports tourer targeting the Japan market.

The new LEVORG sport tourer will also employ the most advanced safety technologies. It will feature the next-generation EyeSight with many added safety functions and the newly launched steering support control.

The big news here for the new Subaru LEVORG sport tourer is a newly-developed 1.6-liter Boxer DIT direct injection turbocharged powerplant that will be under the hood. This engine will be launched soon in the LEVORG DIT. Look for the Japan market sport tourer to be unveiled at the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show on November 20.
