Subaru launches the track-ready Gazoo RA Racing BRZ

For those in Japan who want to go racing, Subaru has announced the new Gazoo RA Racing BRZ performance coupe.

Subaru unveiled the new Gazoo Racing BRZ Race concept at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon that featured track-ready modifications that any auto enthusiast could bolt on or have installed and be ready to hit the track. Today, Subaru announced they will be offering the factory production Gazoo RA Racing BRZ and make it available to Japanese consumers for the very first time. Toyota will also be featuring a Toyota GT 86 version of the race-ready car.

Like the concept that Subaru brought to the show earlier this month, the Gazoo RA Racing BRZ will have no engine modifications and will feature the factory 2.0-liter Subaru Boxer engine with a six-speed standard transmission. The new race-ready model will be road legal and can be registered in Japan but will not come with the same warranty as the standard Subaru BRZ model. And if the owner decides to race the Gazoo RA Racing BRZ, which many will, the warranty becomes invalid.

Subaru BRZ RA Racing equipment

The new Gazoo RA Racing BRZ comes with a number of factory upgrades that will differentiate it from the standard model. It will feature front / rear ventilated disc brakes, brake ducts, dedicated & dedicated brake back plate (with vehicles left and right front) for superior cooling and braking on the track. It will also come with a Torsen LSD (limited-slip differential) and an air-cooled engine oil cooler to keep the engine temperatures down at the track.

The interior of the race-ready BRZ will be exclusively designed for competition and will feature a four-point seat belt certified (FIA ) and a six point roll cage with side bar and three anchor bolt mounting. The roll cage will provide extra safety for the driver and will also add additional stiffness to the chassis. The RA Racing BRZ will also come with factory A/C with a clean filter, and dedicated floor mats.

Unique exterior colors and features

Outside, the production race car will come in Satin White Pearl (for an additional price), Sterling Silver Metallic, Dark Grey Metallic, Crystal Black Silica, Lightning Red, Galaxy Blue Silica, or WR Blue Mica exterior body colors. Subaru will offer a front & rear transport hook for those buyers who will be exclusively using their Gazoo RA Racing BRZ for competition.

While Subaru hasn’t mentioned the tire and wheel setup, the concept model at the Tokyo Motor Salon shed the factory wheels for smaller and lighter 16-inch BBS wheels wrapped with 205/55/16 Dunlop rubber. Subaru says they are making a commitment to their race fans and expand their customer base by offering the race-ready "GAZOO Racing 86/BRZ Race." Toyota will also be offering through the Toyota Techno Craft, Toyota Race Cars association, a "86 Racing” version.

Pricing has been announced at 2,868,000 yen including taxes and the all-new Subaru Gazoo RA Racing BRZ will be available sometime this summer in Japan.
