Subaru Gets Ready to Uncover New 3-Row Crossover Concept in LA; How Big Will it Be?

Subaru will reveal their new 3-Row Crossover Concept vehicle today at the LA Auto Show. How big will it be?

The all-new Subaru 3-Row 7-passenger SUV is getting closer to reality. Subaru is uncovering their new 3-Row Crossover Concept vehicle today at the LA Auto Show. This will be be the forerunner to show the world just how big the new vehicle will be. It’s just a concept, but it will reveal what Subaru is up to.

Here’s what’s coming in 2018

It’s still two years away, but the new Subaru 3-Row Crossover gets closer with the unveiling of the new Subaru Concept vehicle today in LA. The new 7-passenger crossover will be built in Lafayette, Indiana alongside the new 2017 Impreza and will be underpinned with the new Subaru Global Platform. It will be the largest Subaru ever offered in North America. Production on the all-new model will begin in 2018 and will likely be launched in the US in late 2018 or early 2019.

Will it be named Ascent 7?

The New 3-Row crossover could be named Ascent 7 which Subaru has recently filed trademarks for. There’s no word yet on powertrains or whether a hybrid version will be available, but we know the new Subaru will be powered by a new-generation boxer engine, possibly an updated 2.0-liter turbocharged DIT Boxer gasoline four-cylinder engine and not the 3.6-liter six-cylinder. It will also come standard with Subaru’s Symmetrical all-wheel-drive, it will get the latest safety equipment, and be an IIHS Top Safety Pick when it arrives.

Subaru has high expectations that the new 7-seat SUV will be widely accepted like the Outback, Forester and Crosstrek. This will be the first new vehicle from Subaru since they launched the Crosstrek crossover in 2012. The Japanese automaker learned their lesson with the smaller Tribeca and won’t make that mistake again. The new seven-passenger production vehicle will be larger and designed for families with active lifestyles.

The new Subaru 3-Row Crossover Concept will be unveiled today at the LA Auto Show. Stay tuned.
