2014 Mercedes S-Class gets shod with new rubber [video]

The new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is being called the best automobile in the world. It’s getting a new premium tire from South Korea’s Hankook Tire.

Tires can either make or break a great car and Hankook Tire will have to build the best tire in the world if it’s going to be carving the road for the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Hankook Tire, South Korea's leading tiremaker, just announced that it has signed an agreement to supply original equipment (OE) tires for the new 2014 S-Class model.

That’s quite an achievement for the South Korean tiremaker who is the currently the world's seventh-largest tire maker. Hankook already has reached agreements to supply tires for Germany’s “Big Three” signing Audi in 2006 and BMW in 2011. Now Mercedes-Benz has been added to their portfolio and will supply tires for Daimler AG and the all-new 2014 S-Class.

The new S-Class model of Mercedes-Benz will get an all-new customized tire from Hankook and they will be factory-installed. The company said that the Mercedes E-Class model will also be equipped with its OE tires. It’s definitely a step up in brand recognition for South Korea's top tire maker which has been eager to expand further in the premium tire market.

It’s a feather in the cap for Hankook as the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the brands flagship model and as Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars said, “it’s the best automobile in the world."

The new S-Class is quickly starting to grow into mythological status even before its launched later this fall. Never before has one Mercedes vehicle more truly epitomized “the best or nothing” philosophy that drives the Stuttgart automaker. Mercedes says the new S-Class is the product of blue-sky thinking and painstaking execution.

Look for the all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class to arrive in showrooms this fall as it looks to reset benchmarks in sophistication, comfort and performance. It will be shod with new premium Hankook tires to go along with the full air suspension system. It should be one smooth ride. Stay tuned to Torque News for the latest news on the new S-Class.
