October 2020 Camaro of the Month: Bobby Handegard's LSA-Powered 1969 SS

This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS has the exterior look of the vintage muscle car with the drivetrain and interior of a 2013 ZL1, combining modern power and comfort with the classic design.

Over the course of the past few years, TorqueNews has worked with the folks from the Camaros Unlimited Facebook group to select the Camaro of the Month. Each month, more than 46,000 dedicated Camaro fans nominate their favorite muscle car that is owned by another member of the group. When they get five nominees, the crowd then votes on their favorite vintage Chevy of those in the running. When the voting ends, the Camaro of the Month is crowned.

For October 2020, the community chose the 1969 Camaro SS restomod shown here, owned by Bobby J. Handegard. We reached out to Handegard for all of the details on his classic muscle car with modern power. You will find all of the key details below.

This has been my dream car since I was a child. I got the opportunity to acquire my Camaro in the summer of 2012. This is a unique custom car build. I consider this to be an extreme resto-mod. I started with an 80% clean original 1969 SS and a wrecked 2013 ZL1 Camaro. The goal was to combine both cars so that you could have the exterior look of a 1969, with all of the comforts and speed of a 2013.
