Mopar to introduce Ram Runner package at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show

Mopar (the aftermarket division of the Chrysler Group) introduced the radical Ram Runner last Easter along with showing off the Raptor-hunting Ram at a variety of shows but at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show the Ram Runner package will be introduced as an orderable package.

The Mopar Ram Runner package is designed to work with 2009-and-newer Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4WD pickups and while this package will likely bolt up to a new Ram with any engine package; I’m going to go ahead and strongly recommend that those building their own Ram Runner has the decency to use a Hemi-powered truck. No need having the show without the go…but anyway.

The root of the Mopar Ram Runner package for the Ram 1500 is the Mopar stage 2 suspension package with similar Fox Racing shocks to the ones on the Ford Raptor F150 and aluminum a-arms, giving the Ram Runner far more underbody clearance and an impressive 14” of suspension travel…all for just $13,270. Helping make room for the tires when the advanced suspension system starts doing its thing are front and rear fiberglass flared fenders with enlarged wheel openings; a $2,370 addition. Once you add the front and rear bumpers, the bed-mounted tire rack, the performance hood, the cat-back exhaust system and cold air intake to replicate the Ram Runner Concept, the total price for the package is a cool $20,479.

Figure, to put together a proper base 2011 Ram 1500 with a Hemi, 3.92 gears and bucket seats (part of the ST Popular Equipment Group) carries a price of $32,730. Tack onto that the $20,479 and you have a total price of $61,805. That’s a lot of coin and if you have that kind of money to spend on a truck then you might as well go all out and use a 2011 Ram 1500 Laramie as your base truck and when you load that up and add the Ram Runner package, you have yourself one wicked, luxury-filled off-road ready Mopar Ram Runner…all for just $62769. If you want to deal with things like a front bench seat, 3.55 gears and the 4.7L V8 engine, you could build your Ram Runner with a basic 2011 Ram ST for around $49,554 - only a couple grand more than the Raptor.

This is a great match for the ford F-150 Raptor! The muscular look of this truck is very impressive compared to the one made by ford. The hemi powered engine is bolted with high performance ram air kits to make the truck run smoother and shall gain additional horsepower.
